Does he remind any of you of Dabo or Orgeron?

Goofy Ra-Ra guy

There just seems like something is missing with him

Weird to me with the timing on firing Stoops because he could have gone to his Alma Mater

Bottom line is, he bitched out and got scared to take the job he really wanted. That’s all I need to know about him.

I’m telling ya: he said at his presser that he had spoken to LANE all week and Lane told him Fla was the job for Sumrall

LOL

Ya think we want someone that takes advice from Kiffin?

My favorite game was Patrick Nix to Frank Sanders FTW

People say this but he’s not going to Kentucky over Florida/Auburn even if he went there…

If Indiana can win big with the right guy, so can Kentucky

ETA: If KY can pay that huge Stoops buyout, they have the money to compete with the right coach

Stoops was making more than Golesh and they beat Fla 38-7

The game has changed man

(Vandy nods)

Doesn't matter as UF was a shite show for a little while

So what...USF beat FL this year with Golesh making less.

This is true but if you think UF doesn't have money, you will be sadly mistaken. They are getting their money together & won't be down for long once they get the right coach for them....

He will probably be ok at Florida but in our situation it made more sense to hire an offense guy.

The big programs still attract top guys for a reason.

Gave Sumrall almost 17M for assistants per year. We spend approx 7-9M to give you a comparison. It could go up but that’s where we were.

Hope he goes 11-1 next year, but I only really care about the 1.

Do you have a source? That’s a huge difference. Can’t imagine we would be that cheap?

According to a thing USA Today did Georgia was the highest in the conference last year at right at 10 mil in assistant pay total (we were just under 7). If that total is right for Florida it would be insanely high, not so much us being cheap. But we were kinda middle of the pack in assistant pay last year.

Oh okay, so UF is just ponying up and far surpassing all other schools (based on last year’s numbers).

Does it really matter what we pay our assistants in the grand scheme of things? I mean, yes, it matters to an extent, but I would assume what we pay is determined by what/who the HC needs. Golesh doesn't need a rock star OC or NFL assistants, he needs people that are familiar with his system, which is pretty much what he got on the offensive side. those guys are moving up from lower level jobs where they probably got paid a lot less and are getting a huge bump in salary with the move up.

on the flip side, the defense, we do have a rock star DC with some pretty good assistants that are mostly sticking around with the job they had, some probably getting raises, others may stay the same. I mean if you're trying to hire Nick Saban as DC, Lane Kiffin as OC, and then a bunch of other big time assistants just to have name recognition, you're gonna pay out the arse. it's just all dependent on what you need imo. just because you pay your staff several million more than someone else doesn't mean you're gonna get the same or better production.
