How are you guys feeling about your teams? I haven’t been able to watch our team bc most games are on SEC+. Will be able to watch our game vs SMU on ESPN.

So far, we have a good offense when clicking. With Agee, we have an inside paint presence, similar to Payne last year, that can play with his back to the basket in the post. We have a good 3 point shooter in Dominguez. A lot of ball movement. Have been rebounding well. Have the size to protect the rim, but need more consistency. Feel confident in Bucky.

I like what we can be once we hit conference play.

Also, when I watched Dominguez highlights, I saw a YouTube channel tracking all Spanish league players in the NCAA now. Probably about 10 players are being tracked. Kids playing in the Spanish Pro league, even teams like Real Madrid, are leaving Spain to come play in the NCAA. Add to that teams can now recruit players that played in the G League, it’s interesting changes.

Is this the end of only recruiting HS players and former transfers in college basketball? With the G League and European Pros open to recruit?

My understanding is that semi-pros are a pain in the arse to get the NCAA to allow to play, and America still has by far the most talented basketball players in the world. High school recruiting is going nowhere anytime soon.

The SEC needs to crack the Northeast region eventually. The region with no football fields that kids only lace them up for basketball.

I’m jealous of the players the Big East teams such as UConns, St Johns, Villanova’s, DePaul, Xavier, Georgetown etc recruit. Heck, even Memphis.

I do consider the Big East Mid Majors, which some people dislike them to be tagged as such.

Memphis is not in the Big East.

You can usually find a stream of the games on YouTube.

The higher you get in number for the position, the worse MSU gets. The 1-5 position is literally a ranking of 1-5 of players on the floor. We have a center that, on paper, should be a force on the floor. But he is the poster child of what not to do.

Yeah, that’s why I added them separately. But they always seem to field competitive teams.

Aw, come on, man, no Creighton? lol. In all seriousness, we’ve had one of the best Big East teams for about five years now.

I’ve heard people include the BE in the “Power Five” of basketball, and I think that’s appropriate. In the last six Big 12 - Big East challenges (regrettably canceled from this year on), the final score was Big East 30 Big 12 28.

Playing without a PG.

Again.

And it shows.

Combined with bad 3 point shooting it's going to make for a long winter. Thankfully the conference doesn't look as tough top to bottom.

I agree that i usually don’t considering them a power conference bc of football bias. But in basketball terms, they most definitely are a Power Conference.

State bumped up their schedule and has paid for it. Early season losses to two Big 12 teams, an ACC team and a good mid major have them sitting at 5-4.

They have a road game at Utah and an upcoming home game against Memphis that are must wins.

Gotcha. Yeah, we suck in everything else. I always wondered how Creighton volleyball (which has steamrolled the conference and won it twelve times in a row) would do in the SEC or another conference that has actual talent.

Creighton volleyball would get steamrolled in the SEC or Big Ten. Their in-state counterpart, Nebraska, is the pinnacle of the sport

Disagree. Last year, when we went to the Elite Eight, we lost a grand total of three games, all in five sets. Those losses? Nebraska, Louisville, and Penn State. All true road games (including the loss in the E8) to Final Four teams. And, we rolled Texas (back-to-back champions) in the Sweet Sixteen.

He's been a bit inconsistent. Handled the ball fairly well the other night against NC but stunk it up from the field. Played good against Louisville but stunk it up again against Mich St.

Pretty good, but I'd love to see how good we could be with everyone healthy.

Jalil Bethea, Latrell Wrightsell Jr., Keitenn Bristow and Collins Onyejiaka have all been hurt - Wrightsell would definitely be a starter, but has always had problems staying healthy.

Keitenn Bristow and Collins Onyejiaka are big dudes who their absence has been felt when we get into these games where we need a stronger presence in the paint. Collins Onyejiaka is 6' 11" and 265lbs, so getting bullied at the rim would be a lot harder with him in the game.

What does that have to do with how well Creighton would fare in the SEC?
