If Bama doesn't fall out of playoffs with a loss, should UGA keep top 4 seed with a loss?

The committee has at least hinted that a loss in a conference championship game won’t move you down, but a win could move you up. Therefore, Alabama will only drop with a loss if a team below us wins and moves in front of us, which BYU or Virginia seem to be the only candidates.
If Georgia loses, Texas Tech, BYU, or Alabama could theoretically pass them.

BYU is not currently safe (ranked 11 with two conference winners set to pass them), so they shouldn’t become safe with a loss.

The only thing we are certain of, LSU is not even close to a playoff

If Bama wins, they will be bumped to #4, IMO.

And if what you say is correct, there is no team immediately below Alabama in the rankings that have a game and can bump Alabama from playoffs...or bump UGA from the top 4...am I seeing that correctly?

Oops...forgot about the lowly ACC in the mix for a auto qualifier.

This would make the most sense. It would be strange to keep Alabama below Georgia.
The issue in this scenario is Georgia would fall to five, setting up a potential third game between the two teams.
The best situation would be a hard fought Georgia Bama game with Bama pulling it out at the last second, and Texas Tech losing. We could then possibly have Bama and Georgia getting byes.

Cant wait to you weebles come back to reality and realize you always were and always will be a 2nd tier program with an empty trophy case and walk of champions.

It does make sense. You might disagree with it, but not penalizing a team for playing in an extra conference championship game is a reasonable standpoint.
If what I am saying is correct, Alabama should not be in danger of getting bumped. If Georgia loses, Texas Tech-BYU winner and Alabama could both possibly pass them. That would be up to the committee.

There are five automatic qualifiers. Two of those are currently ranked below BYU and would thus pass them.

And why would Bama be safe with a loss but not BYU?

Why are you worried about the playoffs? Dont you have a coaching hire to celebrate? Coaching Carousel champs again!

Bama will be in because if losing a conference championship game bumps an SEC team from the playoff, it will kill conference championship games and forever restructure college football.
I don’t think the 12 dipshits in that room care enough to have that kind of stain on their resumes.

Bama should need to win the SEC CG to get in as they need to make up for an atrocious loss. It wasn't just bad, it was awful and by two scores to a 5 win team.
They did not prove enough in the regular season to counteract that.
If they win the SEC, they make up for it. If not, they should be out because it will carry too much weight.
Now, if the committee is fair and follows sound logic, that will be the case, but they are completely inconsistent in how they are ranking teams in the 8 through 15 range. Randomly applying contradictory logic to place teams where they are.
UT is over Vandy based on head to head despite less wins and more losses, including an atrocious loss to a 4-win UF.
Then ND is ahead of Miami based on better losses despite Miami having the head to head win.
It is one of the stupidest things in history with how this committee thinks and makes its rankings. It is a reason to boycott the playoffs because they are a sham not based on who is most deserving, but who will get them the most money and ratings.

Wait, the owner of this board doesn’t understand how the 5 automatic qualifiers for the CFP works? Surprising

This logic is retarded imo, "we won't move a team down, but we'll move teams up (by moving others down)"
