My favorite part about our defense is that no matter who the DC is our DBs never turn their head to look for the ball. When the receiver changes speed to catch a ball we run right through them instead of making a play on the ball. Really makes my heart happy

Why do I have better memories of Odom’s defense than those numbers show? Not necessarily good memories, but if you had asked me to guess who had the ‘best’ D over this time frame, he would be it.

Because for some reason everybody thought his defense was good and briles was the problem when reality was the other way around.

It happened in 2014.
Had a top 10 defense in Robb Smith’s first year (the Spaight, Flowers, Philon triangle) and still finished 6-6 because our offense was the drizzle shits.
Then the very next year our offense was one of the best in program history but of course our D was awful.

We alway have exactly 2 sec level linebackers that never leave the field until they inevitably get hurt.

Bro we picked up those two big portal additions from Jacksonville St. and Kent state last year, Who were never rated over the course of their college career.
I never looked at it to start the year because I really just didn't care but it should have been glaringly obvious when Dix and Sorey were all we had at Linebacker.

My heart broke for Philon when we couldn't put Bama away in 2014. Of all the years we should have beaten them, we lost that one for no particular reason other than they're Alabama and they're supposed to win.

And the missed PAT. I don't have much faith we'd have beaten Alabama in OT, but you never know. Between that and the bizarre fumble, what a waste.
