I just dont see why they would move us now.

Did you read the whole tweet thread? They literally explain why they think it’ll happen.

I think their argument in this case would be Texas A&M losing hurts ND because they previously had arguably the best quality loss of any playoff contender

I don’t think it’s the strongest argument either given how they’re ranked things thus far, but this committee ranks first and comes up with explanations after

The playoff predictor just moved us to 9 with a loss to UGA.
I think it’s happening. Holy shite.

I would love it. The committee is so crazy though its hard to trust them.

But I think its the only safe thing to do in case of a Bama loss. This way ND still gets in over BYU and no one argues it.

If a 3 loss Bama team got in over BYU the world would burn

I think bama is the only team in the country with 2 wins over teams with 10 or more wins.

Texas A&M lost, Miami beat Pitt by more and embarrassed them

Notre Dame's only ranked win is USC, which isn't really a great argument for the playoff

Realistically the 8-11 spot should be OU, Bama, Miami (Head to head), then ND.

They should give the committee spokesperson a series of blind team resume tests and ask him to pick the team on live tv and watch the hilarity ensue.

Like give him 5 10-2 team blind resume and have him rank them 1-5.

He can’t even pick a coach. Memphis wanted Silverfield gone and Arkansas hired him

It's becoming more and more clear that resume doesn't matter as long as you win a shitty schedule. Hopefully 'Bama starts scheduling cupcakes from here on out instead of home and homes with the Wisconsins/FSU's/Ohio States of the world. Literally no reason for it now.

Makes all the sense in the world...but after hearing that Arkansas retard committee chair, I'll have to see it to believe it.

Yep. Hypothetically if we were to schedule Oregon, Texas Tech, and Miami on top of drawing 4 or 5 top 25 SEC opponents and somehow go 9-3 against that gauntlet, we'd probably get left out, and it's a virtual certainty that we'd be seeded behind an 11-1 Indiana who went 0-0 against top 25 opponents.

If Bama moves ahead, it will be:

"we considered the added data point of Alabama finishing regular season the #1 SEC CG seed"

even though Bama is the #1 seed due to same strong SOS the committee has habitually ignored

Notre Dame's schedule had two difficult games, both of which they lost. The rest has been a G5 tier schedule.

ND odds to make the playoffs are very close to the same Texas Tech money line odds.

That seems to indicate that Vegas believes BYU would take Notre Dame’s spot if they somehow win.

There’s just enough of a difference there in case I guess we get destroyed or there’s some injury to a team that changes them being a top 12 team.

End of the day I always bet on what is going to make the most money for the person making the decision.

In this case the committee would be jeopardizing the entire conference championship system by keeping Bama out.

Ending the conference championships would cost everyone money (ESPN/Fox/conferences).

Therefore while the networks probably enjoy the drama and ratings caused by ranking teams poorly leading up to the selection day announcement, I don’t expect them to jeopardize the stability and revenue streams associated with the current process by poking the SEC in the eye.

Easier and more profitable to tuck Bama in at 10 and come up with reasons afterwards.

It just throws back "SOS" into the committee's laps that they said was going to be more "enhanced and emphasised". We've seen through however many weeks of the CFP rankings that SOS hasn't really played a big part in the rankings. There are a handful of teams in the top 12 whose SOS is bad yet they are ranked ahead of SEC teams with much harder SOS's.

I knew from the get go this was going to be sham and ultimately all they cared about was winning, regardless of who the wins were against.

Easy to say this but they kept Bama out in favor of SMU last year. How much money did they lose by having a first round matchup of SMU vs Penn State instead of Bama vs Penn State? That decision probably cost them millions in viewership for that game.
