Standings decided first by W/L record, then margin of victory (max 20 pts per game). Next tie breaker is points scored.

1. Michigan
2. Tennessee
3. Auburn
4. Gonzaga
5. Kansas
6. Baylor
7. Maryland
8. Houston
9. Iowa State

10. St John’s
11. Syracuse
12. Creighton
13. UNLV
14. Alabama
15. Notre Dame
16. Oregon
17. Rutgers
18. San Diego State

After all teams play a second game today, matchups will be decided for Game 3. I believe the #1 and #2 teams play in the Championship. Also #3 and #4 will play in the Third Place Game.

I think all other teams will be paired off 5 vs 6… 7 vs 8.. etc, except matchups of teams from the same conference or matchups that have already occurred / will occur this season will be avoided.

1. No idea what any of that means.
2. It’s rivalry week! Don’t be posting this nonsense.

I guess I should have posted scores from the Shriner’s Children’s Classic so you could see that Georgia lost again in basketball.

Whatever makes you sleep better during this wonderful and last week of regular season college football.

Does point differential determine standings? I can guarantee Creighton is not the twelfth-best team on that list. We’re closer to 16th.

Yep, I believe so.

Early week basketball this week leading to rivalry weekend in cfb has become one of the best sports weeks of the year

You should buy in, it’s nice

Some SEC schools have basketball programs.

Guy over on the AU ON3 board built this for keeping track of tournament standings. Pretty slick

Also a good write-up on how tournament format is setup:

An AU/Tenn November non-conference game would certainly be interesting.

This is why your basketball team will likely miss the tournament this year.

The SEC is looking terrible in Non conference play so far. Only bama, Auburn, and Florida have a good win.

This tournament result will determine how many spots we get in March.

It matters a lot more than where Kiffin coaches next year.

Agree. Much of the NCAA Tournament seeding / selection is determined by this very week. People who ignore it should not be allowed to watch March Madness.

I’m picking Gonzaga over Maryland by 30 plus tonight to make into the finals. Really want to see a Houston/Gonzaga matchup.

Didn’t realize that Gonzaga is 28-13 against the SEC and won 7 of their last 8.

Gonzaga is a case study in how to take one magical run and tur it into a dynasty. Butler was on their way but dropped the strategy.

Gonzaga was a little known Catholic school in Eastern Washington before that '98 run. They have 4x'd their enrollment, are still a basketball power and will be in the Pac 12 next year, which will be a strong basketball conference.

You know who is doing the football equivalent?

SMU

They are going to be a force.

I mean they tried but one of the best basketball minds in the world left for the NBA and things slowly fell back to earth.

Won't happen due to them being in same pod at MGM Grand.

quote:

From the link above:

The 18-team field is split into two pods. Ten teams will play at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and the eight will play at the Michelob Ultra Arena.

Syracuse is in the MGM Grand pod along with Rutgers, Tennessee, Kansas, Notre Dame, Houston, Gonzaga, Alabama, UNLV and Maryland.

The teams in the Michelob Ultra Arena pod are Michigan, Creighton, Oregon, Baylor, St. John’s, Iowa State, Auburn and San Diego State.

The team that finishes in first place in each pod will play each other in the overall Players Era championship game and the team that finishes in second place in each pod will play in the third-place game. Both of those games will be played Wednesday.

Saw this stat this morning. According to the Torvik rankings, the SEC is a lackluster 8-19 against the Top 100.

However, the SEC is a perfect 65-0 against opponents outside the Top 100… worst loss being Mississippi State losing to #85 New Mexico.

The SEC is the only conference so far without a single loss to a team outside the Top 100.

Big 10 has one bad loss… Big 12 and big East have two. The ACC has six.
