Perhaps Lane just can’t…

stay in one place too long, no matter how
successful he is. I imagine Monte moved the family around a lot and that’s what Lane
grew accustomed to. Just like the military
kids bouncing around from one base to the next.

Perhaps Ole Miss is a stepping stone.

The average length of time a HC stays at one school is 4 years. Kiffin’s been at OM for 6.
He was at OM far longer than any one predicted. It’s not like he bailed at the first chance he got. Auburn be damned.

Or the far more obvious option, every move he made/is making makes sense.
He was fired from Oakland
He left Tennessee for a better program that was the school he cut his teeth with
He was fired and got a coordinator position
He took the job he could get
He took a job at an SEC school
Hes taking a job at a top program with better recourses.
If you just simplify all that into "Lane likes to leave" youve basically said a pointless thing. Everyone of them makes sense.
Not a single time did he make one that makes you think "damn no reason for that. Guess he just got restless"

Kiffin will always need large doses of adoration. And he knows he will get that wherever he lands next. It's part of who he is. And he's not going to change.

I know people who start companies but get
bored with the day to day running of those
companies and sell out just to start another
one 6 months later. To sayal his past moves makes sense doesn’t contradict this.

He didnt leave Oakland cause he was bored. He was fired.
He didnt leave Tennessee cause he was bored. He left because USC was dream oppurtunity.
He didnt leave USC cause he was bored. He was fired
He didnt leave Bama cause he was bored. He was offered a HC job
He didnt leave FAU cause he was bored. He left because OM is a better program
Hes not leaving Ole Miss cause he was bored. He left because LSU is a better oppurtunity

Did he abandon his family because he was bored?

Kiffen is doing nothing different than what other successful people do in their line of work. The only difference is it’s in full public view and fans of college football are the biggest gossips in all of sports.
If the guy can get a raise for doing the same job then he absolutely should. At the end of the day he’ll be retired and out of the spotlight and his extended family will be set for life and the fans will be gossiping about the next set of coaches.

This makes little to no sense.
Wiki entry for Lane Kiffin states:
quote:
He graduated from Bloomington Jefferson High School in Minnesota in 1994,[6] and committed to Fresno State University to play college football. He played backup quarterback for the Bulldogs, giving up his senior season to become a Student Assistant Coach for position coach Jeff Tedford.[7] According to teammate David Carr, Monte Kiffin forbade his son from quitting the team because of lack of playing time, so Lane became a coach instead.[8] Kiffin graduated from Fresno State in 1998.[7]
As for Monte himself:
quote:
He spent nearly 30 years as an NFL assistant coach, including 13 years as defensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with whom he won Super Bowl XXXVII.
...
Kiffin earned a reported $2 million annual salary during his time with Buccaneers and turned down several NFL head coaching jobs during his career.
...
After Tony Dungy was dismissed by the Buccaneer front office following the 2001 season, Kiffin was persuaded by incoming head coach Jon Gruden to remain in Tampa and continue to run his defense. Kiffin had been interviewed for a head coaching position with the San Francisco 49ers. With the seamless transition on defense allowing the new coaching staff to focus intently on a more potent offensive philosophy, the result was an immediate balance between offense and defense that carried the Buccaneers to the organization's first championship in Super Bowl XXXVII on January 26, 2003, in San Diego, California.
Seems to me the elder Kiffin was old school, stable man. His son is a brat and not because of dad's upbringing or dad's example in life.

Lane seemed to signal that he and QB Simmons both will be heading to FL.

He said this in his presser today that he was his dad’s story to move from job to job. He’s trying to let us down easy. He’s gone

Lane has a commitment problem, personally and professionally.
