Every school is looking for 2011- 2018 Nick Saban. Every fan is expecting 2011-2018 Nick Saban. But even Nick Saban couldn’t Nick Saban in the NIL and portal era.

There are hundreds of millions of dollars being spent on something that is unobtainable.

Every school is simply wanting a return on a ridiculous investment which is millions of dollars to win football games

He went 8-5 the season before and 9-3 the season after. So right in LSU’s wheelhouse.

Many administrators and many fans need to realize for every winner of a football game there is also a loser. The best three programs in history have the following winning percentages:

Ohio State .736
Alabama .733
Michigan .733

That equates to a 12 game regular season record of 8.8 - 3.2. So the three most successful programs of all time, if you round up, have an average record of 9-3.

But fans, boosters and alum don’t have unrealistic expectations.

Plus, those records were achieved pre-mega conference. The percentages are going to come down but fans expectations will be slow to adjust.

That's just the tip as well. All these playoffs, portals and shite happened because of him also.

Fair. However if you have a program going in the wrong direction after three years, why not make a change? Too much money not to

Funny thing is Saban told everyone EXACTLY how all of this would play out, portal included

Uhh no it was Ed O'Bannon and his lawsuit in 2009 that got the balls rolling.

Of course the NCAA being a gutless feckless organization letting this turn into a festering bowl of dog snot has also been required.

It’s way past time that the NCAA does its job and start to bring some order to all this chaos. If they need to work with Congress to get laws passed to limit some of this NIL stupidity then ok but the time to do that was a few years ago not tomorrow. They could also create limits after the playoffs on both players and coach movement so schools are not affected by all this coaching change or portal garbage during the season.

If the NCAA can’t deal with all these challenges in college sports then why do we need them. It’s the job of the NCAA to provide leadership to all of college athletics. If they can’t start solving some of these problems then it should be done away with and a new entity created in its place that can bring some order to all this mess.

Saban was great, but he was helped a lot by being the head coach in the football capital of the world, Tuscaloosa, AL.

Everyone is looking for a 2011-2018 run like this. In 8 seasons Nick Saban was a buzzsaw (and some Alabama fans still called for him to be fired).

103-10
8 western division titles
7 SEC titles
4 national championships

Instead we now have the NFL light where around half the division leaders right now didn’t even make the playoffs last season.

You are absolutely right.

Once upon a time, if you won a NC, you were set for life (a legend at the school) and could basically do what you want for the next 20 years.

Now you have to be competing for a NC every year or you’re on the hot seat.

It’s ridiculous and tiresome.

It’s playoffs or bust now and making the sport less and less enjoyable.

9-3 with our schedule was a hell of a year.

9-3, three years in a row will get a coach fired.

I miss the BCS days.

CFB needs a major reset.

Yep. A fricking video game wrecked college sports as we all grew up with.

The NCAA needed to be reigned in. They did some stupid spiteful shite. But the pendulum has swung all the way to the other side now. What SMU got the death penalty for and a 30 for 30 special is now just a hors d'oeuvre.

True. But we just need the next GOAT to come in and pick up where Saban left off. We'll eventually get it when we demand it just like we always do.

They attempted to but school collectives filed lawsuits the very next day.
