Hopefully we are not starting Deuce. Get the win first.. Mercer is 9-1.

Maybe not, but I do want to them to do something to give Duece an opportunity to see himself as the future after Ashton next season to retain him if he is what he's supposed to be.

We will have a new coach. The new coach will have their say about roster management.
There are many other players (starters) that will be more deserving of Deuce's paycheck if he wants to be butthurt about it.

It should. Quite frankly Ashton should be getting as many reps as he can get before the iron bowl.

Agree, 100. I know he has alot of experience but not this year he doesn’t

On the flip side, AU doesn't need AD to get hurt before the IB. He's our best hope at QB right now.

I'm old school, but I'm about "What does Ashton want?" That should be the first consideration. If he did want to preserve his redshirt, and DJ said "No, you're playing?" Do you really think you'll get your best effort out of him? Wouldn't he be more likely to say, "Screw Auburn; I'm transferring."?

Well, later in the video it was stated that Ashton would've done either way, but Durkin didn't force it on him to be out, Durkin did it in Ashton Daniel's best interest.

Gus had the best success against bama recently and he didnt pull the first string off the field in week 11 until they were in rhythm.
Auburn already did shock n awe against Vandy. Bama will be prepared for Ashton now.

Starting JA and designed play and subbing with Duece is logical. JA needs to experience the "new" play-caller in CKA. Appeared more 'in' routes: and not RPO on a slow roll.
Get ahead and get Duece in there for game experience. No matter what, a new head coach will decide 2026 starter. If it is Durkin, he may want a known back there. Not the best, but a known.
Have no problem with this call.

Will be interesting to see if JA responds to the new look play calling or not as well.
Mostly though, get the W. Mercer is not the usual pre IB tuneup game at 9-1...

Mercer is beating Jackson Arnold. Better hope deuce plays significant minutes.
