“So the good news is, clap it off. You still control your own destiny to get to Atlanta for the SEC title. You control your own destiny to get to the CFP. And you just gotta go and do it now. Simple as that.

For everybody that’s bemoaning about ‘oh, we gotta go to Auburn, that’s gonna be tough!’

Guess what? In the BCS era we had to go to Auburn too. In the 4-team era we had to go to Auburn too. It was a must-win game in many different occasions. If you wanna go chase championships, you gotta go get it.”

Sure, Bama blew its chance to take care of business before the Iron Bowl, but Greg is correct here.

And, sure, we tend to complain rightfully so about Greg a lot, but this is the exact mindset that Coach KD needs to instill on his players.
Go get it. Forget this whoa is me attitude.

Is it that clear cut though? If we beat AU then go lose by 10 to a really good A&M team are we a lock at 10-3?

I think we really need to be in front of ND tomorrow to feel safe for the 10-3 hypothetical.

Worry about the SECCG when it is on the schedule. The Iron Bowl is on the schedule. It is 100% the only problem we have right now.

Well yeah, but this is a message board and we aren’t playing on Saturdays. Just discussing hypotheticals.

The only chance of getting left out would be if it was a blowout loss in the SEC championship game. Any moderate loss or competitive game might hurt seeding a bit but not to the point of missing the field.

Fair enough. I guess mentally, I'm not even sure we can get too invested in the hypothetical because we may be playing Georgia for all we know. Frankly, I'd rather take our chance with a new opponent than a repeat given our dramatic 1st half v. 2nd half offensive performance negative trend. You can extrapolate that Georgia will have us diagnosed from the opening kick in that rematch and it will be tough sledding for us.

You know what? Heck yeah. Let's worry about Auburn now and let the chips fall where they may. I don't know if you boys realize this, but we have the opportunity to drop a sixth-straight win on the barn in two weeks. A couple of decades ago we would have been gloating about this streak until the cows came home. Now no one seems to care.

Really disappointed at the lack of thumb references after exiting Bryant-Denny last year. Waited 20 years for that and everyone was kind ho hum.

That’s kind of the deal with this rivalry though. The games at Bryant-Denny are blowouts and become memory-holed. Auburn & the media only care about the game when it’s down there.

They aren’t but if we were to lose to A&M by double digits and we’re sitting there with three losses (one of them being to a bad FSU team) then it wouldn’t be the craziest thing ever to leave us out. Not saying it would happen but better to remove all doubt and just win them all.

To your point though, it would mean the SECCG (and other championship games) is a risk and thus better for teams to avoid it altogether. The cfb brass doesn’t want that to happen. I personally think these games are now outdated in this new format and should go away but there’s too much money.

Playoff Predictor says:

43% cfp chance if lose to auburn (0 in my mind)

96% chance if we beat auburn and lose the SECCG.

It's a 1 game season. If auburn wants it more than you do with everything on the line, then you weren't championship material anyway.

Yes. The first time they punish a team for losing a conference championship game those games will quickly be shelved and no one wants to lose that money.

ESPN has a $trong motivation against punishing conference championship participants. That’s why we got left out of the dance last year over a team with an inferior resume.

The precedent was set last year with SMU making it into the playoffs after losing in the ACC championship game. When Alabama wins in West Georgia in two weeks, we will punch our ticket to the playoffs.

I was today years old when I realized we're on a five game win streak over the barn. I dreamed for this on 2006.

It's going to be a night game in JHS too. Should be electric.

No coincidence that the barn gets Bama and Georgia at home in prime time.

was really hoping we would avoid a night game but with everything on the line, I'm not surprised.
