Horton was hit as he was running across which led to the pick 6. Call the Attorneys. Bama never gets the calls

I think by rule, the defender can bump the receiver within 5 yards.

Edit: This may only be pro.

There is no 5 yard contact rules in college football like the NFL.

Once the ball is in the air that is considered PI

Yeah. Looked like an easy pi call.
It's pretty cool bama didn't get the call. I'm enjoying it

Thanks for the clarification. That being said, you know what they say: It shouldn't have come down to one play.

Not interference but if the ball was actually thrown to the receiver, #3 gets a pick six instead

You can’t hit a receiver and take him off his route regardless. Line of scrimmage was the 23 and he was hit at the 17-1/2 or 18. It was close to that 5 yard threshold for sure.

NCAA rules

Before the pass: Defenders are allowed to make contact with receivers anywhere on the field until the ball leaves the quarterback's hand. This differs from the NFL, which has a 5-yard illegal contact rule.

After the pass: Once the ball is in the air, contact is governed by pass interference rules. A defender can still legally make contact if they are looking for the ball and attempting to intercept it, but they cannot interfere with the receiver's ability to catch the pass.

Not crying.. just stating it should have been PI which is correct. It changed the momentum of the game. OU was in the right position and made the play, but instead of 10-0 it might be 7-3 Bama or tied if our shitty kicker made the field goal since we were just outside the red zone.

It was a WTF just happened moment in the game, which made us play catch up.

The thing that has me curious is 3 breaks to the receiver at the snap and just before Ty gives him a look. Safeties don't do that... unless they know the play.

I agree. You should definitely get attorneys involved and you should not rest until Alabama is finally treated fairly.

That’s not as egregious as the missed field goal where the OU defender launched himself over the snapper & tipped the ball.

That would have given us 1st & Goal. Instead it was tipped & shanked, and we lost by 2.

Some notes I ran into:

quote:

Terry McAulay @tjmcaulay It is not illegal for a player lined up within 1 yard of the line of scrimmage to leap.

Moreover, in college, to be illegal, the leap must be above the frame of an opponent. This was in the gap.

quote:

The key here is Oklahoma scouting every aspect of the game. Bama snapper had a habit of snapping the ball and staying in that position prior to coming up to block. They knew they could get this ball and they did
