Turning down Auburn, was that the right decision?

If you look back at 2022, the entire national conversation was, “Auburn is the better job — bigger brand, bigger stadium, more money, more history.” Lane Kiffin turned it down anyway, and at the time a lot of people thought he was crazy.

Now in 2025, did he make the right decision professionally?

100% was the right decision on the personal/family side.

Auburn is toxic. Lane can do way better.

Yeah i'm sure that whole ordeal with Harsin didn't have any effect on Lane's choice.

Probably not. We treat our coaches like dogshit yet every single one of them love it so much they keep a house nearby for the rest of their lives.

Dye, Tubs, Chizik, Gus… I bet Freeze stays to be honest. They always do.

Love Auburn, great game day.

Big stadium, recruiting is usually up there. Heisman's.

Jordan Hare is, objectively, a dump of a stadium compared to most of the rest of the SEC. From an aesthetics, amenity, and fan comfort perspective, I can’t name many stadiums in worse shape & in need of major overhaul. Vanderbilt, Missouri… that’s about it.

lol Hugh is buying in his old neighborhood here unfortunately.

Wish he’d just stay there, but I don’t know if you caught any of his daughter’s posting after he got fired…

Yes because now Florida's big boosters and AD are using common sense.

Or no one can afford to buy their houses.

Auburn’s renovations over the last 15 years have been installing big screens instead of actual upgrades. You’re not wrong.

Auburn has to deal with an in state juggernaut and they also got the shite end of the stick in terms of scheduling by having to play UGA and Bama, not to mention a surging Vanderbilt. He would have ultimately fared better at Ole Miss than Auburn. But in any other scenario, I'd say Auburn.

For a guy that has a respectable job as a pilot, you sure are a trashy arse Alabama fan. What gives? Can’t get the trash Alabama fan out no matter what?

Alabama got lucky with Saban and UgA has gotten lucky with Smart, take those 2 away from the conference and everyone else has treated their coaches basically the same.

If you don’t want to win a championship, Ole Miss is a hell of a nice place to play and coach. Auburn is simply a better job and Auburn is not a top 10 job like UF or LSU.

Auburn isn’t as good as you think. YellaFella and all that comes with it brings the job down.

The only thing lacking at Jordan-Hare is the club areas… Auburn fans who sit in the club would be horrified to see how bad ours are compared to many other SEC schools.

With that said, everything else about Jordan-Hare is top notch. We have two of the Top 6 largest video boards in college football. The atmosphere is amazing. Our concourse areas are large and not nearly as cramped as most other stadiums. And our bathrooms are way nicer than any other stadium I’ve been to.

A bama fan talking shite about stadiums is rich. Y’all’s endzone upper decks are truly the worst seats to watch a football game that I’ve ever encountered… and I’ve been to 20+ stadiums. Your concourses are a tight maze of ramps and confusion. Your uppedecks don’t connect to your lower decks. Your video boards are the size of Michael Scott’s plasma. And the track running around the sides makes for the lower deck seats around to 50 so unnecessarily far from the field, it’s a horrible seat… not to mention it makes it not very loud at all. The atmosphere feels like a lifeless, characterless NFL venue.

Auburn is about to have their 4th different coach in 5 years. Not everyone else is doing that.

It's pathetic getting downvoted for stating this fact.

I've been in most of the football stadiums as a fan and seen multiple ins-and-outs of each, and by far Auburn and Tennessee are the absolute worst.

There is no debating it, unless you're a blind homer.
