Help Needed: Gameday Guide for Columbia, Missouri

Heading to Columbia this weekend against my better judgement.
Mizzou will be the 13th SEC stadium where I've seen State play with only Florida, South Carolina, and Oklahoma left on the tour (all on the calendar for the next 3 years).
Looking for any gameday recommendations from both Mizzou and former visiting fans for bars/restaurants, tailgates, places/things to see.
Is there a Sonic nearby campus I can fight Mizzou ranters?
Any insight is appreciated

We used to have a petting zoo but you guys all made fun of us for it.
But seriously:
Downtown Columbia runs along the northern edge of Mizzou's campus. Plenty of good spots to check out on gameday:
Booches for burgers and beers (cash only and will be packed out the door on gameday). Order 2+ burgers, they are smallish. Been there since 1884.
Shakespeares for cheap pizza and beers. Popular local/student spot.
Flat Branch is popular micro-brewery with decent food. A little more grown up than the suggestions below.
Harpo's is the most iconic Mizzou bar.
Willie's is another good bar option.
Shiloh would be my third choice - has a nice patio if the weather is decent.
And if you go to Shiloh, Tropical Liqueurs is across the street - grab a very boozy slushy!
For some off-campus options:
Murry's is great, CC's City Broiler is the best restaurant in town (also pricy), D Rowe's is good if you are out south, and Logboat Brewing makes some great beers.
The tailgating scene is scattered and confusing. Be prepared for that. Stadium is just south of campus, so prepare for a lengthy walk the entire campus if you want to pop between downtown/tailgate areas.

Missouri should never be allowed to live down the public blow job they gave Black Lives Matter.

Is it parking lot tailgating? Might find myself walking around to chop it up with some Tigers.

Some restaurant "suggestions" not must-do:
- Shakespeare pizza (multiple locations)
- Flat Branch (micro brew with pub style menu)
- Booches (cash only burger joint with a LONG history)
Activities:
- Walk downtown area that is full of food, drink and shops
- Walk campus, especially the quad area and the student union
You wont have any problems getting free drink and food at tailgates if you just have a positive attitude. Big donors with the most free stuff are in the lots around the outside of the stadium.

Mostly, yes. The most concentrated areas will be just north of the stadium (although stadium construction has temporarily messed that up) in Lot L and in the area south and east of the stadium (near Hearnes Center and Mizzou Arena) in Lots I, K, O, and N. There will be scattered tailgates around campus and in other lots though. Edit: Lots A and X are also active, but Lot A is the fancy donor lot and Lot X is a hike. Here is a confusing map courtesy of the University of Missouri Athletics:

This is the intel I'm looking for.

again, if you consider 4-5 blocks a hike
the weather looks promising and it probably won't be crazy packed after the a&m debacle

Not too far from the great outdoors if you want to check out Rock Bridge State Park, Grindstone Nature Area (one mile from stadium)...great time of year for it.
Oh, and also COMO is home to the largest burr oak tree in the world just outside town in the MO river bottom.
Anything but football at this point man.

The trip to CoMo was one of my favorite road trips. People there are really cool. Area around campus is nice and the parking was on the hwy was easy to get to and out of. We ate at Truman’s after the game so we could watch several games. I really like the stadium there. No erector set looking monolith. More like an old school stadium.

There are several free parking garages about half a mile north of the stadium, near the Reynolds Alumni Building, the Carnahan Quadrangle, and Jesse Hall/Francis Quadrangle. Good place to set up a tailgate on the lawn and a pleasant walk through Greek Town to the stadium. Also, an easy walk to downtown bars and restaurants (Booche's, Shakespeare's, Old Heidelberg, Harpo's, Shiloh, Flat Branch, etc.). I would encourage you to spend a couple hours walking the campus. The "red" campus consists of traditional red brick buildings, and the "white" campus is made up of mostly white limestone buildings. It is flat and walkable and quite pretty in the fall with the leaves changing.
As another poster mentioned, the best tailgates are the big-dollar donor ones surrounding the stadium. Some are welcoming, some are not. I have had good success at the lot on the southwest corner of Providence and Stadium, in front of the Athletic Complex. They always have a lot of TVs with football games on.
If you get to CoMo early enough, you can park on the shoulder of Stadium Blvd. east and west of the stadium, or on Providence Rd south of Stadium. Easy in and out but a longer walk to campus.
You will have a great time. Tiger fans are welcoming and will treat you the way you treat them.

Staying at a hotel on the east side of 63. Good stuff on where to tailgate. We'll probably do downtown mid day for lunch, walk around campus towards the stadium and hopefully bump into a few cordial Tiger fans who will let us catch a glimpse of some midafternoon games before kickoff.

Now where are the titty bars?

I'm sure they have some of the finest carpetbag merchants west of the Mississippi.
