3 weeks ago, Ole Miss fans told us that the extension was on his desk with a nice raise that would be impossible to turn down

I could see him going to the Giants.

His dad coached in the NFL a long time. I easily could see him giving it a try and the Giants with Dart make a lot of sense.

I don’t think there’s any way he is considering LSU

What does Lane have to lose by sitting on it a while and letting Sexton read through it a few times a day?

Let Ole Miss sweat and get a few more concessions and promises.

1. He likes to troll the other schools

2. The longer the other schools have to wait for an answer the more time they will waste on keeping their current players from transferring and future recruits from committing

3. Lane can wait, it's not like these jobs are once in a lifetime opportunity... more HC jobs (even the HC same jobs) will open up in the next few years.

He is still waiting to see if LSU does in fact have a vacancy. It seems their HC was not terminated. The situation is fluid. MTF.

If it gets to the week before the Miss St game and Kiffin hasn't said he is signing an extension and there isn't strong talk that UF is getting a different coach then....

Kiffin still has things to play for.

The losers can sit around and wait.

And if the new UF coach fails to make the playoffs for a couple of seasons, UF fan base will demand his job and will try to get the next hottest 2029 coach again?

This boomer fairytale that every coach is amazing and just needs more time has been disproven so many times that anyone repeating it are the flat earthers of college football.

Mark Richt is what happens when you settle for mediocrity for 15 years. Good schools get results fast, see Ohio State and Alabama.

I think that is a horse of a different color for Kiffin and likely intriguing to take.

Hard to tell what motivates Kiffin outside of blond chicks and hot weather.

He has money, coached in the NFL, coached numerous CFB teams.

NY might be motivating because of the national attention he would receive and with one of the largest fans bases out there. So, maybe he is an attention whore.

He'll either do it like a WWE contract signing...

OR.. like a high school kid on signing day...

A table... 3 hats... and he puts on the hat of the job he's choosing. OR... picks up an LSU hat... goes to put it on... and then tosses it aside... and puts on the Ole Miss hat, throws the Florida hat down on the ground and pisses on both the Florida and LSU hats for good measure.

Because he is smart enough to let the bidding continue before signing anything? Any attorney who advised him to sign at this point would be guilty of malpractice. The ball is not just in Lane's court right now. He owns the court.

If he did then this board wouldn't be able to write such illustrious fanfiction about his next coaching destination. He's doing it for tRant.

Because Kiffin isn't an idiot. The market value of signing a new coaching contract in early November vs early to mid December is worth the wait.

Elko will likely do the same with his extension.
