Even in "failure" there he still added some prestige points for the university.

I bet he's remembered somewhat kindly as the years wane. I think it was just a bad fit more than him being an inept coach.

Why would a decent coach have a hard time fitting at LSU?

Not sure about remembered kindly. The more time passes, the more shitty stuff we hear about him but I would never deny he was a good coach and that LSU was just a bad fit for him.

Good coach, but got lazy. Probably thought just by coming to LSU a natty would fall in his lap.

LSU was right to cut bait now that some of the details are coming out about just how checked out he was.

I think 40 year old Kelly would have been successful at LSU. After 2023, I think he checked out.

It's Baton Rouge

They trashed Saban, Miles and Orgeron after they left as well. But those guys won titles so even after the gossip and shite talkers continue to die off the trophies remain.

His CEO style of coaching (absentee) was over reliant on his coordinators, and he hired some ineffective ones.

And one very easily could have had he fielded just a slightly below average defense in 2023.

I think he blew his chance with Jayden, knew it, and then just coasted.

Best thing a coach can do to fit in is win. Saban was no different than BK culturally, but he won.

BK worried too much about trying to fit in and not enough about winning football games. LSU fans would much rather he had been himself and put his focus on the team.

Ineffective is putting it mildly. He killed any shot of success, when he let Denbrock get away, and promoted Sloan. Sloan was already highly unqualified, but he even regressed as a QB coach this year. Complete waste of space.
