The funniest thing I've seen out of the Hugh Freeze firing is that he was so obsessed with

golf that after Auburn told him to stop playing, he'd go to the course and just watch other people play.

Screw that, if I'm at a course, I'm playing.

I think they were just hating bc he knew how to knock it through the Ferris wheel.

Anyone else think this is not a big deal? Was the guy supposed to not have any free time? Why can't he go watch or play golf instead of going to lunch or dinner at Longhorns?

Ok. That’s just sad. On so many levels.
Nobody should separate a man from his clubs.

When someone is going through a breakup they come up with all kinds of mental devices to convince themselves the person they’re leaving was horrible.
If playing golf was a coaching red flag nearly every coach with a ring was and is a giant red flag.
This is just Auburn using their media network to run the guy down.

Yeah. Whether it was a big deal or not, I don't know. Suppose it depends how much "free time" he was taking to do his hobby.
But whether it was or wasn't, going to a golf course to watch someone else play golf is funny.

Golf also doesn’t exactly take your entire mind share, you can golf and work at the same time. That’s what I don’t get, tons of work gets done on the golf course.
As an Auburn fan, other fans complaining about golf is an extremely lame and frankly off base.

Now he has enough money and time to own a gold course.

Maybe I'm just being crazy but millions do that every year.

In fairness it's the best time of year to play and there's some good courses in the area.

The guy had quit…. Was just taking the money and just cruising through life.
Bob Stoops did the same thing at OU for the last decade or more that he was there.

Did he just ride around with the beer cart? I would think that would be the way to go.

I mean if you are having one losing season after another, and your offense is beyond anemic, especially when you are considered an "offensive guru", I can see playing golf too much can rub folks the wrong way.
