Auburn and the curse of Hickory Ground

Auburn University partnered with the Poarch band of Creek Indians to excavate the Hickory Ground sacred site in Wetumpka, Alabama, in order to develop a bingo hall and later a casino. The land is sacred to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, who were relocated to Oklahoma via the Trail of Tears.
The Auburn archeologists uncovered and relocated at least 57 grave sites considered sacred to the Muscogee. The Muscogee sued both the Poarch Creek and Auburn in 2012, and the suit is still ongoing.
Since 2012, Auburn has had one chance for a national championship in football, but they were defeated by the Seminoles (whose great leader, Osceola, was actually Muscogee through his mother).
Until Auburn returns the removed remains and makes amends, they will continue to be cursed.

That's interesting. I just figured Bobby Lowder sold his soul in exchange for the Kick 6 and then the devil realized the check bounced.

Jackson Arnold took the trail of laughs on the trip back east. That was part of the curse.

That and they hate women. The original university school for the boys of east Alabama needed to change its name to university of lower Alabama polytechnic school. It wasn’t until after that they change their name to Auburn, which was only in the 60’s. It was announced at a KKK event they needed change

Auburn sold their souls to the devil with Cheese Dick and Gus.
At some point the ancient Indian burial sacrifices and miraculous 4th qtr comebacks were gonna run dry.
Time to pay the pied piper.

Funny story related the Poarch Creeks and their Casino along the Tallapoosa River. The owner of that land knew there was a burial ground in the floodplain. He donated the mound and the footprint of the casino to the Poarch so they could legally have a gambling operation under state law, but still owns the parking lot and the roads leading to it. Those are leased.

So what curse is on Vanderbilt?

Google Cornelius Vanderbilt. He was a robber baron. The wealth that endowed Vanderbilt University was accumulated at the cost of the deaths of thousands.

Fact. And he was a huge slave owner than fought for the north who had dozens of children by various women. He gave massive money to the navy to specifically hunt down Alabama and Louisianans .
Vandy will always be cursed and his 9 kids who didn’t get their inheritance will always haunt his statue
