…but does a HC really want the governor of the state all up in his business while running a major football program?

Little General Jeff Landry will be the wild card in this whole coaching search and not in a good way.

Kiffin to the Florida Gators. Book it!

You know who’s lookin real stable over the past two hires?

Alabama

It appears to be really hard to hire two good coaches in a row. The only way to do it is to have the legend retire and have a guy come in there that is serviceable.

I wouldn’t want to be the guy after the legend. I thought Alabama was going to hire an assistant just to be a buffer between Saban and the next boss. But he had a rough year last year (duh, it’s his first year) and now he’s on his way to Atlanta.

Kiffin stays at Ole Miss - book it. Ole Miss has a cake walk to the playoffs.

Well, since we don’t have an acting president, he felt he needed to get involved. And if you have not learned already, all it takes is not winning to get fired in Baton Rouge not a governors decision.

Yeah this year. They will not make the playoffs next year with the new schedule with or without Lane.

It is interesting...

Because in OU lore... there is a story about how Huey Long ran off one of LSU's coaches... Biff Jones... in the 1930s.

Biff told the OU people that Long demanded all kinds of crazy stuff from him regarding the program and basically wanted to coach the team. He was in the Army and he got the Army to assign him to OU so he could get away from Huey.

But Long didn't stay ahem, long... at OU. He actually quit the Army so he could be allowed to leave OU and go to Nebraska.

I don't know what stories he told Nebraska about OU...

Personally, I think Kiffin stays put but one of my main concerns would be the stark comparison in crime stats between the 2 cities.
Per Copilot:
===========================================
Gainesville, FL is generally a better choice for families than Baton Rouge, LA, thanks to lower crime rates, better schools, and a more family-friendly atmosphere.
Here’s a detailed breakdown to help you compare:

?? Cost of Living
- Baton Rouge is more affordable overall, especially in housing.
- Median home price: Baton Rouge ~$200,900 vs Gainesville ~$271,700.
- Gainesville’s cost of living is about 1.2% lower, but salaries tend to be 3.2% lower too.

??? Safety
- Gainesville has lower crime rates, making it a safer environment for raising children.
- Baton Rouge has long struggled with higher violent crime rates.
- Gainesville, while not crime-free, tends to be more stable and less affected by urban crime patterns.

?? Education
- Gainesville wins on education quality.
- Home to the University of Florida, it benefits from strong public school support and a college-town emphasis on learning.
- Baton Rouge has some good schools, but overall rankings and resources lag behind Gainesville.

?? Lifestyle & Recreation
- Gainesville offers more outdoor and nature-based family activities:
- Paynes Prairie Preserve, Kanapaha Botanical Gardens, and numerous parks.
- Baton Rouge has cultural attractions like the Louisiana State Museum and LSU sports, but fewer nature escapes.

?? Commute & Traffic
- Gainesville has shorter average commute times (17.7 minutes vs Baton Rouge’s 21.4 minutes).
- Less congestion and easier navigation make daily routines smoother for families.

??? Climate
- Both cities are humid and warm, but Gainesville tends to be slightly cooler and less flood-prone than Baton Rouge.

??????????? Community Vibe
- Gainesville has a younger, more vibrant population (median age 26.8 vs Baton Rouge’s 32.1).
- It’s known for being progressive, health-conscious, and community-oriented.
- Baton Rouge has a more traditional Southern vibe, which may appeal to some families depending on values and preferences.

?? Final Thought
If your priority is safety, education, and lifestyle, Gainesville is the stronger pick. If affordability and cultural depth matter more, Baton Rouge has its merits. Want help comparing neighborhoods or schools in either city? I can dig deeper.

LSU fired the last two coaches that won Nattys for them - then locked the most recent coach out of the facility the day after a loss.

What coach would look at that as a good deal?

Yeah lets go to the program that changes head coaches like underwear and believes they are something they are not.. You Gator fans need to open your eyes you have not been an elite program for quite a while now.. I have lost count at how many coaches you have gone through since Urban left, its always the coaches fault.. Maybe its time that you just realize you are not as good of a program as you think you are..
