Sure don't stick with mediocrity, I get it and think LSU is taking appropriate action, but it also appears LSU is overly confident they're going to nail this hire and be back sooner the later.

To me, it's just as likely they'll have to go through another coach or two or three before "they're back." We'll see i guess.

Yeah, this one’s a tough hire. Let’s be real — most of us knew BK wasn’t the guy from the jump, and that contract was flat-out terrible. But I’ll give him this: he brought stability when the program needed it.

Now in 2025, I think LSU’s best move is to look at a hungry G5 coach, a big-time college assistant, or maybe an NFL guy ready to make the leap. None of that’s a sure thing, but it beats overpaying another “name” coach who’s past his peak.

What we can’t do is turn into Auburn — running off solid coaches, paying crazy buyouts, and hiring worse replacements. That’s how you end up stuck in football purgatory.

Quite true. Jimbo was a great press conference hire and did have some solid wins, but the culture eroded big time (and that culture was already riddled with holes post-Sumlin), and that led to some off-putting dynamics for sure.

Curious to see who everyone hires.

And with NIL, the portal, and the resources available to a coach, the pressure to show results immediately is at an all time high.

What’s eventually gonna break up these massive buyouts and the backroom collusion between agents, coaches, ADs, and school presidents is when one program finally does it different — they’ll hire a young, hungry coach, pay him $5–7 million a year, pump the rest into NIL, and win big.

The problem is, there’s so much money floating around that nobody wants to be the first to make a smart, fiscally responsible move. Everyone’s too busy protecting the hustle.

Absolutely, its an arms race.

A&M tried to make a fiscally responsible move by basing alot of Elko's contract on incentives (his base pay is about 7 million, but pretty huge incentives if he is successful), but instead, just made him vulnerable to another school coming along and paying more base pay.

I have no idea where college football goes from here. Maybe there really is just that much money in it and the market can sustain all this nonsense.
