Kinda wonder if he didn't crawl the players arse and they quit on him. Only thing that could explain their showing in second half.

It’s possible.

I don't think they liked him, personally, and that can work if you're an excellent coach, but when the team started sucking arse, the body language shifted.

You can be a prick, but you have to win.

Absolutely possible. Can’t tell you that it did, but I wouldn’t doubt that it did happen.

No one liked Kelly. Not the players, not the fans, not the boosters, not the administration. He was universally disliked by everyone.

Allegedly there was a fight in the locker room at halftime.

The team definitely quit on Kelly. He flat out lost them. A&M isn't that great.

I think he knew he was likely toast in his post-game presser. His demeanor seemed different.

Just the way he was acting on the sideline after half made me think he probably acted that way in the locker room too at halftime.

Just a real bad fit for lsu.

Yes, many LSU fans felt that way about Kelly from the beginning.

It was a bad hire by an AD that should be shown the door.

I think there is authenticity in the personal sentiment, but the defense of him and braggadocious nature of all things in his tenure out loud and on-line say other. But, it is in the past. LSU will be fine.

Personally, I agree he underperformed but also thought he was a bad fit, even with a lot of potential from the onset.

Who knows what the future holds. That said, the market is tight and there aren't a lot of game changers out there.

Seems a time to hire young. Pay them reasonably well, and give them time to grow.

I think that is sound advice. Six year contract perhaps?

Jon Sumrall, Brent Key, and Alex Golesh all seem like interesting possibilities to me.

You have a coaching vacancy. Hire him. He may work out better for a lower tier program like Florida

How do you have a halftime fight when you're winning?

I don't think they liked him, personally

Do you think anyone who played for Woody Hayes liked him?

Or Bear Bryant?

Schembechler?

Tressel?

Some coaches motivate a team using the us-versus-the-world approach.

Others get them to play for the school or their family or themselves.

Then there are coaches who motivate through fear and intimidation.

Ultimately all coaches are pragmatists, they go with what works.

He chewed their arse for leading the #3 team in the country at the half?

He’s dumber than he looks.

You’re correct.

Looked like a panic hire after plan A and B fell through, but still wanted the big name to win the press conference. He has always just been overrated.

Credit for cutting bait.
