This is true. We won’t get out bid. But if he wants to leave he wants to leave.

How soul crushing would it be for LSU and Florida if Lane told them no and stayed at OM?

Not knocking OM specifically, but think what that could do for the scholarship fund, etc. This applies to all schools.

But how would that help us keep Lane around?

It wouldn’t
OM practically offering Lane a blank check and him still leaving, however…

If Ole Miss makes the playoff (which they are on track to do), I'm not sure that Florida or LSU can wait around for them to get eliminated in order to hire him. I don't think some under the table arrangement would be enough to hold recruits, and it would be an NCAA violation for him to work recruiting for two different schools at the same time (I'm giving Lane the benefit of the doubt and assuming he's not a scumbag like a certain baseball coach we all know).

If Kiffin leaves, it won't be for money. He's said that himself.
Everyone has money. Yes, even X amount of money.

Probably not that bad. Look, Lane is a very good coach and I wish Arkansas had picked him years ago. But he's never won anything of note.
Florida, it would appear, has adopted the "spend as little as possible to get along approach" the Hogs have gone with. Until that changes you'd be the HC in a talent rich area where folks are straight up outbidding you.
BK, who LSU just flushed, is a Lane Kiffin with a better resume.
Maybe Lane can finally take that next step forward at either place but he hasn't pulled it off at Ole Miss despite the RebSharkBears spending money like a drunken sailor.

There is nothing saying that LSU can not talk to Kiffin or agent prior to the end of the season. The talks could be happening with his agent as we speak. The only think that "should" happen is LSU get permission to speak with Lane but that is only a formality.

Good. Less money they can spend on a roster.

I’m guessing not very much.

Doesn't matter, playing a div 2 qb right now and winning.
