is crazy, his previous record and personality, was plain as day. No way you should hire any coach for $80-100 million unless they are proven championship coaches. Maybe they have oil money to blow, but buying out coaches at $50+ million is nuts. Why not put a few more million in players and new coordinators. The fans will ultimately be the piggy bank that funds all this.

I think we’re at somewhat of a breaking point with these egregious coaching buyouts. At least at the big blue bloods. They seem unnecessary. Like if someone wants to poach them bad enough, they’ll pay it, so the AD/ decision making people are only setting themselves up for hemorrhaging money if they need to fire a guy.

This is what I posted on the Rant on the same subject:

I agree. Hire a young up and coming coach who is willing accept a small buyout contract and put your money in NIL to get superior players.
Pay for a good OC and DC but generally it's the Jimmies and the Joes and not so much the X's and the O's.
Many coaches blame losses on lack of execution.
Well, if you get excellent players, it's much more likely that plays will be executed well.

Even though the overall performance has declined the last couple of years and we are eventually due for a “down” season, this fanbase is so blessed to have Kirby Smart.

Some ADs (Woodward) seem to feel that they have to hire a splashy name and win the press conference, probably because they aren’t confident that they can correctly identify which less established coaches are ready to take the next step. In order to lure the established splash hires, they have to offer absurdly coach-friendly terms.

Of the current AP top 25, only four coaches (Deboer, Elko, Cristobal, Riley) left a Power 4 position to take their current role. One of those was at Duke, and another left to go back to his alma mater.

Just food for thought for the brutal future day when Kirby decides to move on.

There are Powerball winners who will clear less than Kelly, James Franklin & Jimbo Fisher.

To the best of my knowledge, UGA's decision to move on from Richt to get Kirby is the only instance where a 10-win coach was let go and his replacement was able to have more success.

If you are tired of it or don't want to support LSUs buyout, never it a Canes Fried Chicken again.

Its showing how insane the expectations of a fanbase can be. I've never been a fan of BK, but his 3 losses this season were against 3 teams with a combined TWO losses! Its not exactly like he's losing to scrubs. Granted, the Aggie loss was embarrassing, but the fact is, in this day and age, its natty or bust for most of the traditional big time programs. And its getting harder and harder for that to come to fruition.

Coaches still have all the leverage. Kiffin can name his price and pick his favorite between Florida and LSU. They’ll pay whatever.

Kelly had all the success at ND in a large degree to their schedule. I remember that 2012 team that made the NC game and they ended up getting blown out. Someone said that Keilly would be a good fit for Penn State.

If he leaves Oxford, I'd prefer he go to LSU, as that keeps him out of Gainesville.

Anything that damages Florida, on and off the field, is a net positive for us.

One of the guys who stole Guthrie's whole menu back in the day is the big LSU booster and worth 20 billion dollars now. Chicken fingers, Texas toast and orange sauce are the new gold.

I think that firing coaches makes more sense than ever unfortunately. You don't have to find a coach who will come in and recruit and develop those players over time. You just need a coach who is really solid at idenitifying players in the portal who will work for his system and then get a bunch of portal players in and get them to play together.

If Indiana can do, why can't we do it?

Both LSU and UF have some talented rosters that we can hopefully poach come January.

I thought he was a shitty hire but then he took that decimated Ed O team and won the West in his first year, so I started taking him seriously. This year, Nussmeier seems to have regressed and Texas ANM actually looks legit this year, not fools gold like most years. I'm not shocked he was fired because LSU people are unstable, but I don't agree with it. One bad season, and they didn't even let him finish the season, it's absurd. It wasn't a Billy Napier or Stoops or Norvell or Pittman type of situation where this has gone on long enough (still waiting on Stoops and Norvell imminent firings).

I thought he was a bad hire for a variety reasons not the least of which is he simply did not fit in with the culture in Louisiana.
Kelly was born and raised Catholic in Massachusetts aka he's a Yankee.
He fit in much better at Notre Dame which is where he should have stayed until they finally fired him there for mediocrity.
He's 64 years old and his act has gotten stale and with that huge buyout he should hang it up and retire.
Kelly was a good coach in his hay day but never a great coach.

BK has always come off like a goofball and a-hole. Not a winning combination.

He stole the recipes and the whole template - chicken fingers, Texas toast, crinkle cut fries and orange sauce. Making 20,000 million dollars selling chicken fingers is hard to truly comprehend. Only in America!
