You are going to pay the full amount and you’re going to have to deal with that. Brian Kelly is not going to do LSU any favors by only taking half of what he’s owed because your school is too poor to pay the full amount.

It will get negotiated down so that the offset of Kelly’s earnings will not go against the buyout. That and the length are LSU’s only cards. I doubt it will be lump sum, but it might be payable over the next year or two.

If Graves gave $30M as claimed, then the buyout is higher than LSU fans claim. If he told Woodward to frick off about some staff changes, he certainly will do the same with his buyout

Negotiations could mean anything from negotiating with boosters to come up with the money or claiming they’re negotiating with Kelly in order for Woodward to save face with giving Kelly the $53 million in the first place.
In all honesty it doesn’t matter what the email said because Kelly went public that he won’t take less if he got fired.

It’s actually more $150 million just in buyouts if you count the assistants also. We won’t even add the $20 million that this roster cost.
Fisher- $76.8
Kelly- $53.8
Coach O- $18 million (LSU makes last payment to him December 2025).
