It may not be pretty at times, but you can't complain with the record he has. All that matters is winning. The guy just came off a brutal stretch of games and managed to win all of them. Yeah, he's no Saban right now and may never get to that point. But his first few years as a head coach has been wildly successful. Something Saban didn't even do.

Looking at some of these other SEC teams out here struggling (LSU, Florida, Auburn, Arkansas, etc), count your blessings. Pretty sure most of those teams would love to have some "ugly" wins. I have no idea who those teams are going to get as head coach, but it will be interesting.

No shite, that's the reason Alabama is #4 instead of #1.

We're just thankful one first game loss doesn't nullify the seven straight we've since won. But nice try...

I think DeBoer is a great coach with Grubb. Not so much without him

DeBoer already made up for that loss after completing this insane stretch of games undefeated. 2014 Ohio State was the last team to run the table after losing to a terrible team first game of the season. DeBoer has Alabama in the drivers seat to potentially do the same.

Agreed but if you look at his record at Bama and Washington he has a much higher number of close games.

Dont think Bama is tough enough to handle what Debore is going to put on them.

He needs to prove he can consistently win big games. Right now, he is no different from Sark, Kiffen, BK, Drink....

Elko is best HC in SEC and is building a program that all want to model after. Take him a year day of the week over any other coach.

There are so many close games in CFB now. Maybe this is just the landscape now as more teams get talent through the portal, etc.

That's literally what he's been best at his whole career, including 4 straight wins over teams ranked in the current top 15 THIS season.

It's obvious. DeBoer does not force the players to take every game seriously. Saban was not 100% perfect with that but was better at it than anyone else.

A&M needs to be consistently relevant before this kind of talking.

His record in top 25 games is amazing, it's the other games that make me go, WTF.

With that being said...

Milroe leaving made a HUGE difference too. He just didn't have IT. If DeBoer benches him last year, Alabama probably wins some of those games that were lost.

DeBoer literally has the highest winning percentage against ranked opponents of any coach in the history of college football (minimum of 10 games).
