I’m a bit torn on Lebby. It’s easy to look at it and say hey, he hasn’t won one single SEC game in almost two full seasons.. he’s a bad coach. But he’s also put the team in position to win literally every game we’ve played this season. A&M got away from us in the second half, but it was tied at halftime, on the road at night in front of 110k fans.

He’s made some poor decisions for sure, but I’m struggling to just disregard everything he’s done and built so far.

What accounts for the failures at the end of your games?

I was with him last year. Y’all lost some heartbreakers, but showed real glimmers of promise in the process.

This year, he’s made some really questionable decisions. I think he’s been given the benefit of the doubt, but his schtick is wearing thin.

Unfortunately, the market for those looking for a new coach will be saturated this year. Not sure it’s the best time for MSU to pull the trigger.

Welcome to the world of Razorback football. Same shite different week. State and Arkansas are almost identical in the way they’ve been losing games this year.

Please fire him so he can come back to Oxford as our OC.

I don’t think it’s going to matter much. Fan support is going to be horrible the rest of his tenure, all our promising players will leave for better opportunities, NIL will shrink.

Lebby falls apart with the game on the line and is incapable of making the winning decision. All he had to do was make an uncontested layup and he just kept shooting from half court. He has given away 2 straight SEC wins. He may get another year, but he had what he needed to win now and HE fricked it up, not the players.

Is there really a chance that State will get rid of him after only two seasons? Honest question.

There’s always a chance, it would be really stupid on our part, but it’s possible

It depends on how the big money guys feel. Selmon (AD) will be told what to do. They are the ones that funded this team through NIL. It’s the decision making that’s the issue at hand and I wouldn’t imagine he has much support there.

I was in the suite of one of the 'big money" guys last night. He's pretty disgusted. We stood beside each other and watched Niblett run right toward us for a TD on the punt return that never should have happened. A competent coach would have punted out of bounds and made them drive the full length of the field with 1:47 left in the game. Instead, we line drive punt it to their best playmaker and he's in a full sprint catching the ball. This big money guy was a punter for Jackie Sherril at State

Why? Our offense is rolling right now. We just hung 34 and 500 yards on the best defense in the conference.

Main criticism of Lebby as a coach so far is that he has no clue how to manage the clock and his timeouts. Otherwise I think it's mostly a talent issue, which also falls on him but he's a little handicapped at State.

A week after watching Kentucky lose because they kept punting to the dude too. Have to think that wasn't actually called.

Weiss Jr has substantially improved this year and likely gets a HC shot at a school like USF, North Texas, etc on the back of their coaches taking a bigger job.

Lebby coming in would mean we don't miss a step on offense

I just don't think Lebby is a very smart coach. He kept trotting Pulliam out there to punt after he'd out kicked his coverage with line drive punts all night. He absolutely had no thoughts about punting it out of bounds and making them drive the field without much time left on the clock. And snapping the ball all fourth quarter with 20-25 seconds left on the clock is dumb as hell, too. Lebby has like two running plays he calls and they're both called at the completely wrong time of the games. He's just not very smart, but thinks he is. He's a good (not great) OC, but he's a terrible HC and game manager.

We were still under talented against those teams. In other words we have played above our talent level and we don’t have that mental confidence to finish out and win a game. It is a painful process to learn. We will eventually break through. Incredibly frustrating not to have won all three of these games if not at least one of them.

Reminds me of the Butch days…

These type of seasons filled with what-ifs are the worst. Ultimately it’s a culture thing that comes from the HC.

I don’t know who the hire should be but you should cut lebby
