It's over Ole Miss fans

“Lane Kiffin told me he usually doesn’t address those kind of coaching rumors in-season, because there’s so much more football to play, and there’s so many bigger things to focus on. But he’s actually going to do things differently today in their team meeting – he is going to address those (Florida) rumors with his players,” McGrath said Friday afternoon during a 2 pm ET hit on ESPN‘s SportsCenter. “He’s going to talk to them about it and say: ‘Hey, this is what happens when you win. This is a compliment to our players, our staff and our entire program.’ He wants to talk to his players about it because there’s so many new guys on their team this year that haven’t dealt with it before.

Why would he do that if his intent was to leave? Odd thing to do, IMO.

If he wasn't going to leave he would sign the extension Ole Miss is trying to offer him

If all the players are playing for the highest bidder than why wouldn’t he? Money talks

You're obviously new to Kiffin coaching searches. He's been very consistent on this one point:
He
does
not
deal
with
it
during
the
season

If he makes the playoff, he’ll have more leverage to negotiate after the season. Why would anyone younger than social security age sign a contract mid-season?

Florida fans are completely broken.

Strange how this guy is always mentioned for just about every big time coaching change. However he never never won much of anything as a head coach except 2 championships in Conference USA.

He’s got an offer from Ole Miss and Florida which is basically the same terms. 13.5M would make him the highest paid coach in the country. Which makes sense when you look at the list of current CFB coaches (pretty pathetic crop nationwide) Summrall and Golesch are the only 2 with upside that would realistically leave their current HC job and you’ve got multiple programs with deep pockets looking for a coach.
He’s probably leveraging Florida to get more NIL money out of Dickie Scruggs. Next year’s roster is gonna get paid is my takeaway.

He is building in a potential hero/excuse trail
1. If he wins Sat he’ll claim his speech motivated players
2. If he loses he’ll claim rumors distracted his teams focus

Lane won’t be signing anything with anyone until there’s a little more clarity at LSU.

We all know that Lane loves the state of Florida and being on the beach. He doesn’t know there’s no beaches in Gainesville. But he does know how to win in that state.

I'm just glad he is addressing it with the players. I want to actually see how far we can go in 2025.

LSU is gonna pay nearly a quarter billion dollars to hire Kiffin? Who Kelly is .500 against? College football has gone full retard.

Yep, as I have stated before, he's a more likeable Brian Kelly without the national championship game appearance or SEC division crown.

FWIW (no doubt both fan bases will view this as a positive for them):
quote:
“When I pressed him about the leverage that these job openings create for him, he said: ‘I’m never going to make decisions based on money, I’m going to make decisions based on everyday happiness.’ And you can tell he’s really trying to prioritize his family and his kids in this one,” McGrath continued.
