I posted about this in another thread, but it deserves its own thread to sift through the lies and Fantasy and finally put this matter to bed.

One of the persistent talking points from Georgia fans from the Auburn game is that they were the ones screwed out of a touchdown when the refs ruled that Auburn QB J. Arnold fumbled the ball.

But were they? No they were not. Let’s look at the irrefutable evidence, namely, this…

As this picture clearly shows, half of Georgia’s defensive line was lined up in the neutral zone, thus at worst it should have been a free play for Auburn with an offside penalty against Georgia that would have moved the ball from the 6 inch line to the 3 inch line and replay the down from there for Auburn

Note that ref looking straight down the line of scrimmage. I imagine this is one of the nine plays that got this crew permanently suspended.

Either way, at best, this play was a touchdown for Auburn. At worst, it was offside against Georgia and replay the down for Auburn. So, either Auburn was screwed out of a touchdown, or Auburn was screwed out of another play to score a touchdown.

What it wasn’t, what it could never have been, was a touchdown for Georgia. I’m sorry, but that’s the cold, hard, irrefutable truth.

Are you sure this isn't after the ball was already moving? Just by the blur in this photo means players were already in motion.

First, go change your tampon and stop bleeding all over the board about this game.

Second, the pic also shows AU lined up in the neutral zone so it would be off setting at best.

Holy. shite.

Darth is STILL melting!

And btw, that's not "irrefutable evidence." That image is taken on an angle. If the view was straight down the line of scrimmage, the down marker would be blocking the view, rather than off to the left.

I’ve got no dog in the hunt here, but it really isn’t.

It gets tiresome when “melt” is the go-to dismissal of so many valid discussion topics.

Officials having been letting the defense stick their helmets into the neutral zone a lot this year. I don't know why they are slow to enforce that.

First, yes it's dumb to still be talking about this. The game is over, everyone saw the massive failure of the officials who were so bad they aren't officials anymore. It's not going to change.

Second, nobody from auburn is in an illegal position so just take the win you were given and pick another hill to die on. It'd be a shame to lose your credibility over this.

It was clearly neutral zone infraction but let the boys play is how the refs view it right? Just gotta have the horses to out-physical a team like Georgia. Thats not always easy to do. At least the league fired the crew. Not much of a consolation prize I know

you could isolate a still frame shot from ooooooh probably a hundred different plays in a game that the referees should have called differently. I'm not talking abotu cut and dry "did so and so drop the ball and it hit the ground or was it a catch" things...I'm talking about holding, PI, etc. To slow down and screenshot this one millisecond is just sad, especially since, as we all know, UGA rightfully should have scored on the play.

And ultimatley, at the end of the day....despite all the whining from AU about this ONE play in the game, they casually ignore or dismiss that:

-AU scored 1 minute into the 2nd quarter then never again the rest of the game, approximatley 43 minutes of game time
-their QB threw for less than 150 yards total
-their leading rusher had 55 yards
-they had 11 penalties for over 100 yards
-they had less yards, less 1st downs, and less TOP
-they had like 40 yards total in the 2nd half or something like that
-UGA went on a 16 play, 9 minute death march to practically end the game
-We missed a FG that could've made things worse

It's a loser mentality to pick one play, in a game that included all the above, and cry about it being the reason you lost

LMAO. No. The ball is still in the center’s grasp and firmly on the ground. Literally both lines are still down in their stands. Any blurring you see is because it’s a picture of a paused video.

More still frame BS. Look at the closest defender. He is moving...as is everyone else...hence all the blur. Yes, people move on the snap. Nice melt though.

It's even worse to still be crying about it almost TWO WEEKS later.

Don’t offsetting penalties result in a replay of the down?

Are see still pretending Georgia fans an Auburn haters aren’t still bitching that Georgia was the ones who were screwed out of a touchdown? Is that what we’re doing?

Ok, so, offsetting penaties and redo the play from the 6 inch line instead of the 3 inch line. Either way, it’s still 3rd and goal for Auburn and it was never going to be a TD for Georgia.

Don't fumble. Would have solved pretty much everything.
