Pay for play is illegal. They are just paying these players millions for their name/image/likeness. Wink wink. But it can’t be tied to actually playing.
Similar to when Eric Dickerson showed up to play for SMU in a car Texas A&M bought him, I don’t think there is a ton of recourse without getting you or your school in trouble.

Well, Auburn is pretty bad currently, no doubt about it. ole miss has had better season records recently, but they haven’t won shite. Auburn is down for sure, but they have some hardware that the rebel bears dont. Remember that.
