Mike Shula is a great guy. He's not a great coach.

If Bama loses, they have to take him back.

If Carolina loses, they have to keep him.

I still feel bad about the way things ended with Shula. I was a kid but I remember how it all unfolded.

It was miserable. Tennessee in 2005 was the only win against a rival. The circumstances were impossible given sanctions but the 2006 season - should’ve beat Arkansas, had second half leads in Gainesville and Knoxville. The loss to Croom gave us the Cecil Hurt “offense is fundamentally flawed” article and then the “fear the thumb” loss to Auburn finished the season.

Shula will always have my respect for wanting the job when it was toxic and no one wanted it but his loyalty to Dave Rader combined with lack of results ultimately got him fired.

He was in over his head. We knew it, he knew it, and our rivals knew it. I do appreciate his willingness to take on the challenge at a very difficult time in our program’s history, and he did it with respectability.

I'll never forget one of Shula's Bama teams stomping the absolute shite out of us during Urban's first year.

If he isn't running up the middle 3 times in a row with no gain, then they have nothing to complain about.

We will always have that 2005 Florida game.

I have always wondered how that 04 Bama team would have done had Croyle not got hurt. My memory escapes me but they seemed a lot like the 05 team with the exception of a qb.

Not only reduced schollys, Shula had the following injuries to starters:

Croyle QB - knee ligaments

Britt OT - broken leg

Mathis OG - played with stress fracture in leg.

Prothro WR - broken leg

Castille RB - knee ligaments

He did win 10 games in 2005.

I was at that game in Gainesville, had false hope that we could pull off the win. Remember walking out of Ben Hill Griffin early in the fourth quarter with Gator fans jingling their keys at me. Pissed off. Went home and had angry sex with the wife. No pics. The Jumbo Package.

We had a MLB named Prince that we all thought was really good, but it was just the name. He was slow and not very good, tbh.

I hate there's this perception there's animosity from Bama fans towards Shula. He's an alum and former QB...he should be welcome in T-town anytime.

I think the Shula family got pissed, but it's a results oriented business.

This is pretty ridiculous. Protesting a coach is dumb. .

I’m grateful that Shula took the job when he did…no one else wanted it, except that WSU bozo. I hated it when we let him go but he was not a good HC. Sure, Don was pissed that Bama fired his son and it made it worse for the Shulas because Bama hired the guy that sort of screwed over the Dolphins.

And this is the answer. And he still won a Cotton Bowl and finished #8.

Why do you feel bad? He was given opportunities to save his job and he didn’t take them.

That's EXACTLY what he does here at SC .... it is EXACTLY why he is in hot water.

My dear sweet 90 yr old Mother even asked, "what is he doing?"

Does he still look like he's being held at gunpoint when he speaks on camera?
