I'll say Haynes King looks like a pretty decent QB, but is this team REALLY a top 10 team?

Their only game/win against a ranked team is against Clemson (#12 at the time) who has since turned into a pit of bog sludge. They had to go into OT to beat Wake Forest. That's the same WF team that beat that bastion of football greatness, Kennesaw State 10-9.

No one is going to know just how good they are as they play 3 more unranked teams before they play us. Talk about a laughable schedule.

Are they worthy of the #7 ranking? Probably. Are they the 7th best team in CFB? No.

No, they’re barely beating bottom of the barrel ACC teams. They have the 72nd strength of schedule.

They haven’t lost so yes. Bama lost to a team that is like 4 games behind them in the ACC.

Nah, but we aren’t good enough to be the fifth ranked team. It does not matter because everything will sort itself out in January.

they certainly deserve the ranking; question is, can they keep it?

just for fun, I did a little research and found this:

UGA and GA Tech have both been ranked in the top 10 when they played THREE times in in the history of COFH

1942 -- #5 UGA beats #2 GA Tech 34-0
1946 -- #2 UGA beats #7 GA Tech 35-7
1966 -- #7 UGA beats #5 GA Tech 23-14

IF they are both ranked top 10 this year, it will be the 1st time in my lifetime (I was born in 1968)

I also expect it would be the 4th time that the Dawgs win a top 10 matchup

Imagine you're having your best year this millennium, on a collision course with big brother to have a Top 10 matchup for the first time in decades, and instead of your fans and students getting to watch the game at your home stadium, you sold your soul to Mercedes Benz for a few sheckles

Poverty program

It's honestly sad for the sport. But tech is to blame too, they produce more millionaire graduates than any other school yet they have to pimp out home games so they can pay an 18 year old offensive tackle or wide receiver? I bet if they had a D1 cricket team their NIL cup would overfloweth.

You say this after we just toppled a top 5 team? Hmmm

In a crazy season of upsets, parity, teams that no one expected (Vandy, Indiana) looking great while teams everyone thought might be a #1 ranked team to start the season (Texas, Clemson, Penn St.) turning out to be bog sludge, I ask you....if WE are not worthy of a top 5 ranking, who is?

Was that a top 5 defense Ole Miss had?

UTk hits their FG, Ole Miss wraps up McCray instead of letting him wiggle around for a first down, the replay official decides the ball did cross the goal line.

Three plays go different and we're 3-4.

But they didn't and we're 5-1

Quit playing the "what if" game

Top five teams shouldn't have 3 games like that.

Lexis Dad is right....these plays did NOT go differently. Even the best of teams have close calls throughout the season. Take our 2022 natty team which was undefeated and one of the greatest in our storied history...

- After crushing Oregon and holding them to 3 points to start the season, we have a sluggish, uncomfortable win over mighty Kent St, letting them hang 22 points on us.
- We struggle against a weak Mizzou team, needing a last minute heroic drive by Bennett to put them away.
- Later in the season, we sleep walk through another sluggish performance to beat a bad UK team by 10 (16-6).
- And of course, we needed the Buckeyes to miss a game winning FG in the playoffs.

Couldn't you look at all of that and throw in a bunch of 'what ifs' against a team that many feel is one of the greatest cfb teams of all time?

they deserve top 10 since they are undefeated but their strength of schedule is going to catch up with them. This is a year that Tech fans really don't want a playoff. If it was still the BCS years they would be favored every game except UGA. Then win the ACC and have a shot at a National championship game. I think biggest thing for Tech will be keeping Haynes healthy.

Most here are too young to remember how annoying losing to Tech regularly is. Take them serious and hate them early and often.

An argument could be made about UGA's ranking.

what would that argument look like? Or rather, who shoudl be ranked ahead of us that isn't?

Oregon- pathetic schedule losin by double digits to the only pretty good team they've faced
tech- pathetic schedule against bottom feeders from a shite conference
OM- no
Miami- no
Vandy- one decent win, then a double digit loss to the same team as us

When it comes to rankings, there really isn't any rational argument for anyone behind us to be in front of us
