The thought that Lane will likely end up at Florida scares the shite out of me. This guy has learned greatly from his failures at other big programs like Tennessee and USC. He is much more mature and obviously an elite offensive mind.

At Florida he will have the resources to go out and get elite talent on defense as well. Plus he has proven to be excellent at filling in holes with the portal. Ole Miss is the time of program that needs the portal. At Florida, he could simply compliment the existing talent. If Lane goes to Florida at this point in his career, it would be the perfect storm.

It's the most no-brainer of hires.

Only problem is there are a lot of potential suitors at the moment.

Where he can fight Miami, Florida State, Central and Southern Florida, and every other school in the country ?

Florida wasn't much before Steve Spurrier. They've regressed to the mean. Steve Spurrier needs to take a big victory lap - just for how he changed perception in the SEC.

Revisionist history. UF was a really good team in 1983 and was a dominant team in 1984

Can't see him going to Penn State, I would think Florida has a great shot unless he truly believes he can win a natty at Ole Miss.

But Kiffin has been openly sharing his interest in only one.

Lane is a very good coach but there are times he can’t get out of his own way. He has plenty of talent at Ole Miss to win some championships. The reason he hasn’t is due to Lane and some of the coaching moves he makes. That’s going to follow him anywhere he goes. It’s not talent or resources holding Lane back from playing for titles every year. It’s Lane and some of the head scratching decisions he makes.

Too many family and state connections for Lane to not come back to FL.

the only thing kiffen has shown interest in openly is winning football games at ole miss and trying to overcome an abysmal defense.

If you think he's sending secret smoke signals that he wants that job your delusional.

I disagree. His current defense does not have the talent to win a natty. His DC is also holding him back.

LOL @ the OM fan entering every UF thread trying to silence all of the LK talk.

Disagree. He needs UF to get over the hump.

A mediocre coach who doesn’t like to recruit… can’t win the big game… and hails from the state of Mississippi.

How could Florida ever go wrong?

bullshite.

You lost to #18 Miami
Tied with #15 LSU
Won against #14 Auburn
Won against #17 FSU

Florida ended up having their SEC title vacated in 1985 due to NCAA violations. Florida was caught with 67 rule violations including your coach giving direct payments to players, scalping tickets, spying on opponents, slush funds.

I'm gonna have to disagree with calling them "dominate". I think cheaters who had an above average season is more appropriate.
