Going to a 9 Game Schedule will be terrible for the SEC.

All of the ESPN announcers were raving about the fact that the SEC had never before played 8 conference games on the same day.

In reality, the 9 game gauntlet will end the playoff aspirations for a few deserving SEC teams while opening up opportunities for other conference teams to be able to claim that their won - loss records are more worthy.

I'm not sure why the ADs went for Sankey's money above everything else approach, but it will definitely hurt the middle tier of SEC football programs.

The "most deserving" mantra has been scuttled.

No wonder Cignetti jumped at signing an extension at Indiana. He will have a much easier road to reaching a playoff slot.

It really is. Even at 8 games, our schedule was much harder. The mouse better be paying us well for this...

Terrible decision and made because Stankey agreed to not get paid for taking in Utrans and Oklahoma

Sankey deserves ridicule

Meanwhile if youre a big ten team you get to play teams like wisconson who flat out blow every week. Miss state beat ASU, one of the worst SEC teams beat one of the best BIG12 teams lol. SEC is so stacked its not even funny. Ohio state and oregon should join the SEC and just have the SEC be its own league

Odd considering B1G > SEC this year.

SEC’s best team lost to Florida St, who has lost 8 straight ACC games.

Sankey has really positioned the SEC in a terrible spot. He keeps making concessions for other conferences and it keeps getting harder for SEC teams to get into the playoff.

Ohio state is basically sleep walking in, ND loses two games and is still a lock, the ACC could end up with 3. All while the SEC keeps making it more difficult.

Once the 12 team playoff gets here, it won't really make a frick. 9-3 SEC teams will start making the playoffs. A 9-3 SEC team almost made the playoffs last season.

There's plenty of crap in the SEC, too. Like Miss. St., UK and SC.

Almost....

The committee went by win - loss profiles over better teams.

This will only get worse with an extra conference game involved because it affects rankings as well.

Guys, we heard all off season about the backroom deal of 4 SEC/Big Ten teams guaranteed to make the playoffs. We're fine. 9 conference games means more good football. The cupcakes were killing us.

Call the Wah-mbulance! The move to 9+1 conference games had to be made, so the SEC can get them 5-11, 16 team CFP in place over the B18s stupid auto qualifier plan. The SEC will be fine and the tougher schedules will help them regain their dominance in CFB. Steel sharpens steel!

They are going drastically reevaluate how strength of schedule is valued on a resume
