Cohen was the wrong choice for Auburn from before Day 1.

They / Them, among other reasons.

That’s other members of his family.

Not exactly true.

He can “run it” into the ground.

It's cute that you think the AD has any influence over Auburn's football program.

Yeah. ADs get paid a lot to take the fall when the boosters make the wrong football or basketball hire. Otherwise their job is to hob nob and find coaches for sports no one cares about.

Find a Nick Saban. After nearly two decades in cuffs, our boosters don't remember where to stick their fingers in the day-to-day of football, much less call a coach on Sunday morning to say "What the frick were you thinking?"

I expect that will last at least as long as he's still hanging around doing PR.

And thank God, because half the fans wanted DeBoer fired after week one.

John Cohen hired Hugh Freeze. That greatly influenced the Auburn football program.

quote:

Auburn athletics director John Cohen hired Hugh Freeze as the new head football coach for the Auburn Tigers in November 2022. Cohen led a "thoughtful, thorough, and well-vetted search" before making the official announcement that Freeze was chosen as the "best fit" for the position.
