I’m honestly a little mixed on this. I know we need him, but I want him totally healthy.

Might be a similar situation to Ryan Williams last week.

He was listed as Probable on the injury report and he played, but we were never going to throw it to him.

Surprised he is going to play, maybe not as bad as originally thought

Yeah but you can't really use a running back as a decoy. You either hand it off to him or he's blocking. Either way he's getting hit.

Yep. No hiding a tailback. Great news. Nobody is playing players not passing protocol anymore.

Edit: since he was in concussion protocol by all accounts, the parameters for him being available are determined by NCAA concussion safety protocol management guidelines. If he's probable then he's already passed the checklist or very close to it.

His wasn't bad as Meadow was. You don't have to hide him in the offense. He can dress but not take a single snap. I think he'll play if it's necessary. I expect Hill to start the game.

Yep, I expect Riley and Hill to start the game rotating and will be surprised if we see Miller. The best I can see is he gets spot play and not a full load.

I think Miller is a dog and he's gonna be out there as long as he's ready to execute the plan for the week.

Oh I'm sure if it is up to him he'd want to be out there from the first snap until the end. But I just hope the medical staff puts his best health interest in mind even if that means saving himself from himself. Concussions aren't anything to play with and coming back too early can quickly lead to others.

No doubt. I'm just optimistic that our staff isn't operating in the old ways where Spencer Pennington doesn't even remember playing the 2nd half of the Music City Bowl.

Please guys - he has passed according to the universal protocol established by the NCAA. This means that he is fine and able to fully participate.

The football staff is not remotely involved in the decision. The medical staff responsible would be both wicked (to the player) and fools (regarding their reputation, career and conscience) to come close to violating the protocol. If Miller has passed the protocol, as reported, then he is fine.

It's good news, because Bama is going to need him for the W.

Sounds like bait, doubt he plays. They can list him as probable but that doesn’t mean he’s going to play.

You generally don’t rush concussions because the re-injury risk isn’t exactly low

If he’s cleared protocol, his concussion reinjury risk is no different than if it happens against LSU or Auburn right?

Speaking from ignorance. What’s the real medical opinion on post baseline achievement in the protocol w/r/t reinjury?

So is Richard Young just resigned to lopsided wins now? He went from 2nd string to like 4th or 5th in a hurry.

If you focus in on him whenever he’s on the field v. FSU, you’ll know why.

No. Risk of a second concussion generally stays elevated for about a year, decreasing over that timeframe. Minor ones are generally seen as 7-14 days for recovery which is why you see the NFL generally lean on two week minimums before someone suits up on a fast recovery track.

Protocol just means that based on the lack of symptoms or decline in symptoms that he’s good enough to go. That doesn’t mean that his brain still isn’t recovering or has parts still impacted which aren’t resulting in those symptoms though. It’s also highly reliant on the player being honest.

Protocol is basically just an educated guess. Putting a running back out on the field seven days after is very aggressive in terms of recovery and risk management

Jeff Allen is the best in the business. To even hint that he would operate in any other manner is pretty crazy imo.

Yeah it sucks but my son had a concussion playing and he came back a week later. Truth is he was still having issues focusing in class but the photosensitivity had subsided.
