Penn State isn't hiring Mullen. He would damn sure coach at Arkansas or Kentucky over UNLV.

I wonder if some teams will hold off due the coaching cycle that’s about to be crazy. It’s definitely going to be extremely competitive for a quality HC. I wonder if that will make some teams hold off a year.

Sumrall will be UK’s next coach. It’s just a matter of timing and when now, either after this year or next. Probably after this year

Dan Mullen has always and will always be smoke and mirrors. The dude is the creampuff win king. He has UNLV undefeated but their schedule has been abysmal. Idaho State (2-4), Sam Houston (0-6), UCLA (2-4), Miami Ohio (3-3), Wyoming (3-3), and Air Force (1-5).

That's the problem with firing your head coach mid-season. Any coach that you'd actually want is busy right now unless you're aiming at a re-tread like Gruden.

He went 9-4 with Chris Relf as QB. Also did the same with Nick Fitzgerald. Dak’s best season was winning 10 games. He has a pretty damn proven track record developing QBs. His issue has always been recruiting. NIL changes a lot with that, especially at a school with deep pockets. He’s never coached at a major program since NIL entered the chat.

Mullen isn't a very hard worker, so I'd be shocked if he ended up anywhere but the Big 12 or ACC.
