Lane is now 50-18 as HC at Ole Miss (28--16 in conference games) - fastest coach in Ole Miss history to win 50 games.

I don’t think Lane is leaving this year or anything. But if he does, we better hire James Franklin immediately

Yep. Franklin should be #1 on just about everyone's list. He's a top 10 coach

I really hate Franklin and would not want him as our coach. He lost to a bad UCLA team and Penn State spends more than twice what they do on NIL. I know he had a good '24 by beating everyone ranked well below him (best win was over a no. 16 Illinois) and then beating the group of five in the playoff but he lost his two most important games against OSU and Notre Dame.

Are you familiar with our Kentucky loss last year? Will Franklin even win a title? He needs to change his approach to get over the hump. Will he ever do worse than 8-4? Nope. Throughout our history (up to basically 4 years ago) we would have killed consistent results that Franklin delivers.

Do we even outspend Kentucky on NIL? Quick research ( SEC NIL)indicates we do not although that doesn't seem right. Penn State grossly outspends UCLA.

While the revenue sharing is probably on point for that site (we need a bigger stadium), I highly doubt those NIL numbers. If we only had funding of $8 million, then Kiffin would have been gone a long long time ago.
If Kentucky ever really wanted a good football program, they would be able to do it. That fanbase is huge. But they really don't care for it so they don't. That's the reality.

Even if we didn't outspend Kentucky, there is no denying our team was 5x more talented on paper and it was a brutal loss that never should have happened.

It was pretty full in the first quarter and then people decided to leave and go have a picnic instead. We certainly don't need a smaller stadium considering how hard it is to get tickets for most games. That's a really stupid comment.
But my reply was made in terms of the gate revenue. It sets us far behind our counterparts on that metric. Keith Carter has mentioned it a few times in interviews; that we don't get the gate revenue that most other SEC teams do so we have to be "creative" in revenue streams.

I'm feeling better and better that Lane is here long term, short of the Alabama job opening up or him itching to try the NFL again.
College football has changed and it's no longer a slam dunk that coaches in a good situation will jump when a "bigger" program whistles. The transfer rules have significantly narrowed the gap between the "elite" and "good" programs. You have a 12 team playoff (which will eventually be 16) so a lot more schools have a path to contention.
It's similar to Cignetti's situation at Indiana. He's a PA guy so the speculation is he's going to Penn State. But Penn State fired a coach who was in the national semifinals last year, Why would he want that when he has shown he can win where he is?
Kiffin and Cignetti make big money, have full support and good infrastructure to sustain success. Staying where you are and eventually having a statue seems more appealing to me than taking a chance at leaving and maybe working for ESPN in three years.

I work for a small company that pays me good money. I got contacted about a job working for HPE at xAI. I laughed them off. There's no way I'm about to leave a cushy job at a smaller company and go deal with all the shite that is involved in an enterprise level organization for a little more pay. I would like to think that some coaches consider these things as well.
Penn State, Auburn, Florida, etc. They remind us every year why coaching at these places seems like an awful experience. Sure, you may have an easier path to some recruits but you've also got a ton more shite and noise to deal with.

Love him or hate him, Freeze was right a few weeks ago when he said programs and fans are going to have to readjust their expectations in this new era. And be willing to say “oh we won 8 games, we are pretty darn good” or “if we won 9 games we are really really good!”

Wrap the south endzone club level all around the stadium. Makes the stadium much better aesthetically, acoustically, and financially.

Honestly that might help us keep Kiffin more than anything. We are more than happy with that as a fan base with the occasional run to the playoffs. Florida and Auburn will fire you for that after year 3

I agree and disagree. Kiffin said when he first got here after we almost beat Alabama that he appreciated the fans intentions staying behind and cheering for the team after the game but he was like “we lost. And there’s nobody in that locker room that’s happy that we almost won. They wanted to win”. If we get complacent then boosters will get complacent and Kiffin doesn’t strike me as the kind of guy who would want to just win 8-10 games and that be enough forever.

I agree, but I also don't think he wants to be fired over having a 8-4 / 9-3 average while making the playoffs every three years or so.
