LSU needs a wall like USC in LA has. Simple as that. Or buy out a mile of “homes” north of the North Gate, and totally rehab the area.

Won’t/can’t do it because of political issues.

The only unsafe part about being a student is if you live near 15th street

Surprised Norman is in there. The tornado threat alone would make you feel unsafe

Baton Rouge is beautiful, and I'm rooting for you all to get things turned around.

How does this compare to, you know, actual crime statistics? Students are notoriously stupid.

That area isn't unsafe either.

The crime in Tuscaloosa that isn't related to random fights and stupidity from drunk people gathering on the Strip is highly concentrated in two areas of the city that students have no reason to ever visit. The violent crime in these areas, like most violent crime everywhere, happens between people who already know each other. It's shootings that result from stupid personal disputes and drug deals. If you don't live in a high poverty area and you aren't about that life, it largely doesn't affect you.

Yes, there are crimes of opportunity that could largely be solved by people locking their cars and putting anything valuable in them in the trunk when they leave, but you aren't going to get mugged on the street or anything like that.

Actually read this one first. Just saw the OT and other threads.

It was a minor issue in the late 80s with Louisiana oil crunch. Solved itself in the 90s and 2000.

Last 4 years, a big shift to feeling unsafe. Night games are starting to feel like an adventure, and not in a good way.
