Welcome to 9 conference games...

South Carolina Cancles its 2026-2027 Home and Home Series with Miami.

The University of South Carolina and the University of Miami football programs announced Monday that they have mutually agreed to cancel their home-and-home football series for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

The Hurricanes were scheduled to play at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C., in 2026 with the Gamecocks making the trip to Hard Rock Stadium in 2027.

A lot of this coming probably. I think we are going to cancel our other out of conference power 4 games except a Notre Dame home and home since we have FSU on the schedule.

Oh man, you are right. I know it is still a ways out there, but I bet the 30-31 Georgia-Ohio State home and home will get canned sadly. Supposed to have FSU in 27-28 too and I believe Clemson somewhere in there. We aren't going to not play Tech, which is increasingly becoming an interesting game again so I would bet on some, if not all of those getting canned sadly.

I wish schools would quit scheduling games against SWAC-MEAC and play Power 4 or st least AAC or PAC 10 schools.

Schools could just quit being little bitches and play the games.

If we are going to drop these big time OOC games for a 9 game conference schedule, just go to a full blown 12 game conference schedule.

It would at least minimize conference scheduling disparity and we would have a true SEC champion in the playoff.

I have no use for 3 OOC games vs cupcakes.

Why do that when Indiana beat no one last year and got into the playoffs?

This is why the SEC should've gone to 8+2 instead of 9+1. Really screws over UF/UGA/UK/SCar.

Why doesn't LSU play at least 2 P4 OOC every year?

When the playoff expands to 16, there is going to have to be some sort of standardized scheduling format among the conferences.

There may need to be some drastic steps taken like eliminating all Power 4 OOC matchups and forcing everyone to play a 10 game schedule with 1 cupcake and 1 group of 5.

Top 3 from each power 4 in regular season get auto bid playoff spot (eliminate conference championship games).

Top group of 5 gets auto bid (minimum 4 power 4 games in regular season).

1 play in game with #2/#3 group of 5 for 1 playoff spot.

2 play in games consisting of the #4 seeds in each power 4 conference for final 2 spots. Play in games held on the former conference championshiop game weekend.

This was all just off the top of head and would need more workshopping because not really a fan of letting 2 group of 5s in playoff.

Sign me up, especially if it's a home and home.

Not to mention the unbalanced 5 home/4 away and vice versa every other year...

I'm all for LSU's AD scheduling more big OOC matchups. Not sure how that makes me, personally, a little bitch.
