Just watched Texas vs UF and it's worse than I thought

Couldn't watch this weekend because of Bama vs Vandy.
The final score didn't do this game nor Florida any justice. That was an absolute thrashing. UF dominated them in every phase of the game and DG Lagway looked like he was supposed to this season. That vaunted Texas D isn't so vaunted.
Florida looks pretty good when they have their crap together on offense. The defense is scary. They won't be an easy out for anyone if they play like that every game.
As for Texas. They are cooked. They need a real QB immediately.
A bad QB makes everyone even the defense look worse than it really is but especially so on offense. Holds on to the ball way too long. Oline looks bad but not THAT bad. A competent fast thinking QB would help immensely.

With 2 losses now on the ledger, it’ll be curious to the strategy. If Arch struggles early against OU, do they make a switch to try to save the season, or do they stick with him and already start thinking about 2026?

The backup looked better against Florida in very limited action ofcourse because he was pulled quickly.

I think the TX defense will rebound this week. Not sure if Arch will though.

Honestly, what Texas needs more than anything is a running game. If they had even a semblance of a running game their passing game would open up. That being said they are missing some of that speed outside that they had last year too.

I just don’t know how you fix the defense, it lacks speed, has to be the slowest defense. I’ve watched in two years on any team.

I noticed Wizner pulled up after he scored late. If he is out again, things will be worse for TX against OU.
Hell, the bulk of TX rushing yards was Arch running for his life.

But but.... Ohio State only beat them by 7.

Exactly, they’re narrative is so messed up, they were down by 14 until garbage time
Up 14 points with five minutes to go Ohio State isn’t gonna be slinging the ball all over the field they were just trying to grind clock out the entire second half

Maybe the defense plays better, maybe it doesn’t. It doesn’t matter, we can’t fix this OL and we can’t run or pass consistently. Season’s basically shot, so we’ll just play spoiler from here on out.

This is absolute truth. If you had to pick only one fix for Texas - the run game being fixed would have the most widespread impact.

All Wisner does is rob playing time from the younger ones. I've seen plenty of Wisner. If the line could open up a hole, we have several guys that can bust it, not just Wisner.

You're blind if you think the offensive line isn't THAT bad.

Remember the 10 days you pretended to be a State fan while still waxing poetic about Tennessee? What a fricking idiot

Yet the game went to the last second because of one William Hall Napier. An unranked team beat a top 10, and the unranked gamewinning coach still needs to be fired for his decisions in said game (and I’m not talking about the timeout at the end).

I think everyone knows Texas sucks now. This is a "sky is blue" thread.
The best part of the game were the announcers though. Sugar coating everything for Arch. On one of his interceptions that was a horrible throw and nowhere close the following was stated.
"He just missed!"
Reminded me of Major League.
"Just a bit outside."

We will see, lots of football left to be played.
I am willing to give Texas one more shot after OU (that game can go either way). If Texas can work the short - medium passing game and get the ball out of Arch hands quickly it could open up the run game.
