Good watch

Long story short what killed Bama last year wasn’t the run it was the pass.

Haven’t watched yet but I feel like what killed us through the air is the same stuff that usually does. There’s eye candy in the backfield and guys get frozen watching that stuff- and Vandy specifically ran their passing game through the tight end, and we haven’t effectively covered backs and tight ends since ‘Nam

I think their success on the dive play really setup the pass. They were consistently getting 4-5 yards on first down and staying ahead of the chain.

Once they got rolling with PA and misdirection we just could not get off the field. However, we did get a few unlucky breaks.

The TE really killed us on third downs

That was a scheme issue IMO.

My concern is that even if we fix the scheme I don't like our personnel against their offense right now.

Bad on the edge, thin and young inside and soft at LB is not how you want to try to beat an option team.

Removing the pick six, Vandy's average scoring drive covered 55 yards in just under 5.5 minutes per drive. Bama's average scoring drive covered 72 yards in just over 2.5 minutes per drive. Our d isn't good but it damn sure isn't going to have a chance with TOP being laughably skewed 17:52 to 42:08 and two offensive turnovers, one being a pick 6.

If I'm Deboer and I win the coin toss I take the ball on offense. Last year Vandy was able to be the more balanced team. That has to flip this year.

The answer is our offense needs to keep the pressure on their offense. We need to light them up every series. Their defense is no where near as talented as UGA's so I think that's where the 10+ point spread is coming from. We should be able to move the ball on their defense at will, just like they're thinking their offense should be able to move the ball on ours at will. This is probably going to be a very high scoring game.

How?

Russaw is out.

You gonna blitz safeties with those TE's and throw back passes being central to their offense?

That offense eats blitzes for lunch and we weren't getting home with Qua healthy.

I think we have to take away what they can do easily and force them to be a downfield shot offense.

Pavia is a very accurate passer with some great weapons. Their spread rush attack, motions, and his decision making with RPOs creates a variety of threats to challenge this Bama D.

That said, if Ty is locked in like the last 3 games, Vandy won't have a lot of defensive answers either.

Really think it is a close high scoring affair with a Bama win or a complete Bama blowout if they scheme and execute to minimize Pavia's effect.

They are a quality team.

I THINK he's saying, our offense scoring a lot of points puts pressure on their offense to take risks

If our offense keeps scoring it will automatically put pressure on their OC to do the same on every series, which can lead to panic calls and mistakes. We cannot let them get comfortable in their ball control, clock eating offense. We've got to make them feel like they have to score so their focus goes away from eating clock to "we have to score". That's a big shift in mindset.

You know, it's been a minute since Bama knocked a QB out of a game.

It’s going to be the same “bend but don’t break” approach from Kane. We need to trade TDs for FGs on at least 2 or 3 possessions. I’m thinking we will win by 10-14.

Well it's kind of because the threat of the run so we have to key on that and some players cheat expecting it.

Combine that with the fact they have a running QB and their offense uses eye candy with misdirection?

That will open up passing lanes for them... especially when they're running hitches, stops and comebacks for quick on-time separation passing

You don't usually knock out a QB on a blitz or sack. It's when they run the ball. Pavia will do that a lot.

Im watching this right now. I think its very important for Bama to play good field position football. If its 4th and 3 on the 47...just punt the ball and try to get your defense wins

another reason to take the ball to star the game is because our Defensive lineman is out the first half. We need to be on offense as much as possible that first half

It’s shocking that you had to watch a video to tell you that the reason we lost against Vandy or any game for that matter was Milroes inability to be consistent passing quarterback.
