It's time to be real... Stop firing coaches if you don't have nil money

Pretty simple concept... A coach can't make up for lack of NIL money. If you walk to complete in this age of college football, you have to pay for it.

Find you a good guy that everyone likes and just accept that you won't be winning championships.

You are asking for a reasonable discussion. Wrong board.

So do poverty schools like Kentucky and Ar-Kansas just not have coaches?

I mean they are gonna fire a coach at some point. You could just play with coordinators.

Good question... I think you just give a decent guy and accept that you won't be winning championships.

Funny thing with Arky is it was Petrinos o that kept fumbling. They fired the guy in charge and replaced him with the coordinator whose players couldn't hold onto the ball.

I’ll attempt to seriously discuss this….the Arkansas AD said that Sam Pittman did not have the neccessary resources at his disposal. Then he fired him. Why?

Well if the defense would’ve had a pulse, that never would’ve been a problem.

And watch college football dwindle away. It's not the NFL and it won't carry its own weight for people to watch a handful of wealthy programs every week.

It’ll never die. But I could see it becoming like MLB, which is completely regionalized now outside of Ohtani and Judge.

I read somewhere Kentucky is deliberately holding back money from football putting it into basketball to get Stoops to resign vs firing him because of the cost of his buyout

It's probably certain boosters want Petrino, granted Arkansas football doesn't get the money they should from Wal Mart, Tyson, others . Jerry Jones could make Arkansas Oregon South if he wanted ,but he's too invested in the Cowboys.

You do realize that the caliber of coach you have often has a direct effect on the kind of money that rolls in right? And that includes NIL money even though that technically goes to the athletes. People with money are more likely to spend it when they know they are likely to get positive returns on it.

I've heard from multiple people that Stoops has reached out to VT about their HC opening. Cannot imagine VT will be the one to give him that off-ramp though.

However - it has been demonstrated (in my mind) that NIL money CAN make up for a pedestrian coach.

So focus on the money, not the coach. Even Saban couldn't save a broke school. He indirectly admitted that.

Honestly, a lot of program best hope is to be relevant 2 out of every 5 years. Their expectation is f-ed.

I watched Mtsu fire Stockstill who had taken them to several bowls and made them relevant only to fire him for a washed up Vandy coach. Where are there expectations coming from, they will never win a big boy championship, just relevant I their world is all there is. They are far worse now and just lost to Austin Peay.

We lead the nation in lost fumbles since 2021--long before Petrino arrived. The one common denominator is Pittman.

Darn Bobby for knocking the ball out of those players hands!

Ball control begins in practice and it's obvious that it wasn't something that was prioritized during Sam's entire tenure. Practices were run the way the HC wanted, not the OC or DC. Arkansas had 113 fumbles (not total turnovers, just fumbles) since 2020 good for #1 in all of FBS.

We're number 1!

I thought the same thing. The offense could only muster 16 points as well and promote the OC to interim head coach. LOL! BRILLIANT!!!!

Kentucky nailed their own coffin shut by paying Stoops $9 mil. They are about to figure out that the cure is sometimes worse than the illness
