The hire itself had a pretty high approval rating at the time, though it wasn’t unanimous. His career W-L record was impressive, but some fans wanted a younger hire (Lincoln Riley, etc).
When that video first surfaced it was 95% disapproval. Idk what marketing intern came up with it but hopefully they were let go.

In fairness, his pedigree/resume had every indication of success. NCs in lower divisions, NC game/playoff appearances w/ ND, which had academic hurdles for players (lifted for Freeman, BTW). Every reason to think he could win at LSU (he's no Saban, but Miles and Orgeron did).
