The Saban process that Kirby used to build Back to Back

Championships will no longer work in this new NIL era. Teams just can't stockpile quality depth anymore and your best players might transfer to highest bidder. They no longer have to wait for NFL money. Parity is everywhere throughout college football and best teams could lose 2-3 games. The new SEC 9 game schedule will have teams beating each other up, like NFL teams. Its a whole new era of college football, lot of fans still live in the old era but its a new deal now. Winning is going to more about money. coaching and hoping your team can stay healthy. To offset the parity, I wouldn't be surprised to see a 16 to 24 team playoff soon. All this may be good for fans, personally, I hope so. Who would ever thought the NFL would be so popular.

We can still win a championship this year. As long as we avoid Bama, stop using our 5th best back in critical situations, and have some luck with injuries.

While I agree overall with your perspective regarding NIL, there is a reason we are not recruiting as well on offense as we are on defense.
And while I was disappointed in our defensive performance vs Bama, holding a high-powered offense to 24 points should be enough to win the game if we had an offense that is as good as our defense.

Not once, but twice. The 4th and short call was bad because we had McCray getting tough short yardage all game, but it probably should have worked with proper blocking. But that 3rd and 9 call is still boggling my mind. Even if every guy nails their blocking assignment on that play, there is zero chance Cash is getting through traffic to get the first down there. And Gunner had just thrown a perfect bullet to Branch on the previous 3rd and long. I just cannot wrap my head around that call, it was absurd.

Great take
I said the same shite to my dad.
UGA and bama built dynasty's off of talent stockpile and development. Now that the portal exists players will not sit and wait on development.
So basically being able to build a team yearly between recruiting and portal can coaching up the kids that do stay is the new must for coaches.
It's just different but coaches especially coordinators and their ability to plug and play guys is paramount to success.
Time will tell if Kirby will pivot to this mentality or continue down the trend we are all watching where our team, for whatever reason, just doesn't look prepared

The only justification for that call is if Kirby told Bobo "you have two downs to get 9 yards" and Bobo dialed up something he thought would get 4-5 or so. Unfortunately, it was a poorly thrown pass (backwards, actually) to the worst guy on the offense to throw that ball to. Cash is a good pass blocker and a solid route runner, but he isn't going to make many guys miss in open space and you need to make a few guys miss on that play. It was compounded by the fact that he had to retreat to catch the ball instead of catch it in stride going towards the line of scrimmage.

Offensive line was the fault for cash getting hit int eh backfield.
Watch the tape. Our online is just average at best

I think the decline of coaching talent has had a bigger role tbh. Look at those vintage Saban teams. They had Kirby. Lane. Pruitt. Cristobal. Schumann. Scott Cochran. Even Lanning & Cignetti. A coaching all star team. It's amazing that ANYONE beat them imo.
Look at all the talent in our 2021-2022 staffs & it's the same thing - Muschamp, Monken, Lanning, Fran, Cochran (again), Matt Luke etc. I'm not sure any of their replacements have been able to match their success. Lo & behold we seem to get outschemed now until the 4th or 5th drive of the game

Hell, if we can get to the SECC or playoffs, I absolutely want another shot at them.

Yes but our offensive line has been a huge issue for 2 seasons. If you’d have told me they’d use cash jones on that play before it happened I’d have been weary, if you’d have told me the right tackle would miss a block I’d have not been surprised one bit.

This seems pretty convincing. Monken is a top 5 NFL offensive coordinator right now and Lanning is a top 5 college football coach. In hindsight, having them on the same coaching staff is pretty fricking legendary.

Great point. I would say holding them to 24 was a spectacular job. I also thought our cobbled together OL outperformed all expectations. It was the coach play calling and decisions that were atrocious. In no particular order:
) The time out just prior to the 2 minute warning time out
) Cash Jones on 3rd down running and running to the right side of the line when we had been having success running to the left all night long. Double whammy
) Ditto for Cash Jones on 4th down
) The hurry up play on that 4th down instead of waiting for refs to see if he had made the 1st
) And of course the decision to go for it instead of taking the FG. We were at home. Momentum was in our favor and was becoming moreso as the night wore on. It would have definitely jacked up if we tied the game. OT would have played to our favor if it ended that way.
Kirby has a Bama problem. He doesn't make those poor decisions playing any team other than Bama. Against any other team his decisions have overwhelmingly spectacular.

Yet we had success with all other backs all night running to the left to the tune of 200 yards which makes the decision to run right all the more head scratching. Bobo trying to be cute wasn't cute, but in typical Bobo fashion he went right back to something that had already proven it didn't work and abandoned what did. It's inexcusable.

What don't understand is how the same guys that can look like amateurs on the first drives can make such lights out adjustments game after game.
There's got to be a strategic element to it, but it's beyond me

An SEC level back has to be able to make one guy miss.
