Marcello is the most plugged in national/regional guy for Arkansas (I believe he lives in the Fayetteville area, too).

Said that speaking to sources, the it does not matter if the buyout number is $9.3 or $6.5, if a change needs to happen in season, they will make it.

Also said the Notre Dame game is key, because there's a bye week after that and Bobby has been lighting up the phones to get the interim/HC job again.

The Notre Dame game is also the 5th game of the season, so the 4-game redshirt rule has no is gone and players would lose a year of eligibility of they leave the program after that.

Pittman talk begins at 32:30 mark.

I would hope that "lighting up the phones" guarantees the phoner will not be next year's coach. I also imagine the phoned individuals would be aware of the choices and concerns enough to make the phone calls a waste of time.

It also sounds like we're gonna beat ND. New contract with bonuses on the way.

I'll take Petrino and a hefty NIL.

I’ll take Bobby as an overpaid OC if we go with a defensive minded new coach. I don’t trust him to lead a program. But I kind of also don’t trust him to be a subordinate, he seems like he will undermine his own mom.

Maybe….but I also think he’d fire the entire defensive staff on day one.

Well that won’t happen until the off season, but I meant he would undermine any head coach he gets put under.

Last time he was in charge he brought us back to back double digit win seasons.

Since then we've had leading us:

The college football version of Joe Biden
A fat lazy drunk
A guy who's not qualified to coach high school
And a career position coach

In this context it's hard for me to see your concern

Undermine? I don't know about using the term "undermine" to describe it. I'm sure he's probably feels like the rest of us, in regards to how the program is being run. He probably thinks Pittman should be an offensive line coach and not a HC.

If BMFP would have been the HC, we'd be 4-0 right now. He holds players and coaches accountable.

My concern is that Petrino, despite being a competent and handy replacement, flames out again. In four years we're in the same position. Even so, I'll take four years of pretty good over more godawful.

My friend, in the past 8 seasons we've finished the regular season above .500 once.

We've lost to Memphis, Liberty, BYU, San Jose State, Western Kentucky, North Texas and Colorado State.

And we're worried about a head coach having immediate success, but leaving the program in worse shape long term?

There is literally no worse shape. This is as bad as it gets without a death penalty.

That’s insane. Really hard to believe it’s been that bad, especially since you still have people that are okay with it, and say it’s always been like this at Arkansas. No, Arkansas may not have won a bunch of national titles before the motorcycle crash we were never THIS bad historically

A lot of people still either willfully or ignorantly think bowl games mean something. Sam has scored a lot of capital off winning 3 post-season scrimmages. Right now, his buyout is actually $3mill+ higher because of those 3 scrimmage wins

What word do you describe meeting with the athletic department to get your head coach fired? (Auburn/Tuberville)

What word do you describe working the phones while you’re still employed by a guy? (Pittman/Ark)

Also I’m not against it; I believe that’s why he was over 50% in 1 score games.

There is no killer in Pittman.

I'm going to spin this... The job is more rightfully Bobby's than Sam.

Bobby was fired in a shameless attempt at self-promotion by Long. Bobby never lost his job on the field.

Sam is really the usurper here

Believe me, I'm aware of the last decade and so beyond unhappy that losing to Memphis was no perturbation to my Saturday.

I meant "back where we are now" in terms of looking for a new coach, due to another flame out. Not worse off as a program. That's why I said I'm willing to trade "godawful" for "pretty good" in the meantime. It's a concern, not a deal breaker. It's important to look at all sides, view a promising solution with skepticism, and ask ourselves if we can do better.

This is all stupid unless we get rid of Hunter too.
