Hey fellas, just curious, heading down to Orange Beach/ Perdido Key for the first time ever this week (I'm from Calgary, Canada. Big Bama fan)...
Anyway, I'll definitely hit the Flora-Bama for the game and chill on the beach, but wondering what locals think I should do or expect for the weekend?? Never been to the Gulf before.

It will be beautiful and you are going at the best time of the year. Have a great visit!

You’ll pass by me on the Eastern Shore, OB is great, like the poster above said good time of year to visit… advice though, try to come through Mobile pretty early or later in the day… the tunnel gets backed up everyday after 3… I travel it twice a day, trust me. Or route around and hit the Africa town bridge onto the causeway… still heavy but not the tunnel heavy. The new bridge construction is also screwing things up some days depending on what they’re doing. Enjoy RMFT!

ETA: Hope you're a baller and can afford a summer time home around Banff/Lake Louise and then a fall/winter home on the Gulf.

Ya that's the plan. Head north through Foley to the Buc'ees Robertsdale then circle back through Pensacola to Destin

enjoy it brother, have a dozen raw and some crab claws for me while you're down there

As someone else noted, you picked the absolute best time to go because it won't be so crowded.
Definitely check out the Wharf, Adventure Island, Park at OWA, The Hangout and if you enjoy strange monuments, Bamahenge and the lady in the lake are worth seeing.

Cool. Couple things...
What's a good bar/ restaurant place to watch the MNF game?
And is paying for a Tiki cruise out to Crab Island worth it or overrated?
Thx man

So, as a local defense attorney, just be careful out at crab island. Lots of issues out there. Never been personally, but I know lots of the people that do.
As for restaurants, I don’t eat out that way much. Boz can probably answer it better.

Oh really..? Like what sorts of issues?
I definitely won't be renting my own boat.
Just from videos, looks like a fun time

Like Mr. Law said avoid crab island unless you are a college kid. If you have a family with you or want peace go past crab island on the north side of Hwy 98 between Destin and island and park there. Still big sandbar, no ruckus.
So game watching wise maybe Johnny Oquigs, Austins, or Gulf Club.

Be careful with the oysters as the flesh eating disease is hitting hard this year.

I live in Pensacola, and my suggestions would be to check out some of the beautiful state parks in our area. You'll be going right by Big Lagoon State Park, Tarkiln Bayou (Florida), and Gulf State Park(Bama). Go hike some trails in those places, find some cool wildlife, enjoy the scenic vistas. You can easily rent bikes at Gulf State Park, and that's a good way to see everything.
You'll also be right by Johnson Beach. 6 or 7 miles of undeveloped, white sandy beaches. If you make it to Pensacola Beach, I highly suggest Fort Pickens which is a national park, also with 6 or 7 miles of pristine, undeveloped beach, with a preserved Civil War era fort at the end. Nice trails there as well. In between Pcola Beach and Navarre is also national seashore, and miles of undeveloped beach with gorgeous emerald water.
There are several long fishing piers along the pandhandle coast, and I recommend you take a stroll on at least one. You'll see sharks, dolphins, sea turtles, and manta rays, just to name a few.
As someone mentioned already, Fisherman's Corner is my favorite restaurant in the Perdido Key area, so I definitely second that.
Big Beach is a great brewery in Gulf Shores that has delicious beers and a cool atmosphere. Also a good place to watch games.
And yes, go to Flora Bama. Its fun. You'll have a good time there.
Not sure when you'll be here, but if you are in Perdido Key tomorrow, go to NAS Pensacola (or the Target parking lot off of Gulf Beach Highway, or Navy Point park) and watch the Blue Angels practice. They start around 10:30 am and go for about 2 hours. They are badass. Its wild to watch.
If you are trying to get on one of those tiki cruises, I'd suggest you do that in Orange Beach rather than Destin. You can beach up at Robinson Island or Bird Island and have just as good of a time as Crab Island, but with a fraction of the people, and much less of a rowdy crowd.
Like others have said, this is the best time to visit. Heat is bearable, its nice at night, and the crowds have thinned out. Its nice around here, enjoy yourself. Roll Tide, eh?

Louisiana Lagniappe was always on the rotation. I've eaten there as an adult multiple times and it's still really good.
My personal favorite growing up was Pandora's in Fort Walton Beach, but it closed several years ago.
