This is mostly for the older guys on the site. MSU's DD Lewis was the defensive POY in 1967 and went on to play linebacker for 13 years for the Dallas Cowboys. He played in 5 Super Bowls and won 2.
He was one tough SOB. Rest in peace.

Yep, he was from my Cowboy addicted childhood.

I lived just down the road from him when I was a kid in Richardson, Texas. I was also a block from Staubach. The crazy thing is it was a middle-class neighborhood. NFL stars didn't make much back then.

And Lee Roy Jordan lived around there too I believe.
And Drew Pearson lived over in Lake Highlands area.
Crazy how footballers were just regular people.

Yeah, I was in elementary class (2nd - 5th grade) with Michelle Staubach and Roger came to speak on career day.

In 1967, Jerry Kramer was making $27,500.
NFL players weren't rich back then.

Unique individual. I remember watching him tell an interviewer - “know why they have a hole in the roof of Texas Stadium? So GAAAAAWD can watch his favorite football team play.”

I think he holds the franchise record for most playoff games as a Cowboy.
Yep, looked it up. He played in 27 playoff games, and it was the most by any NFL player when he retired. He still ranks high on the all-time NFL list.
He played in nine conference championship games in his 13 year career.

Did Lewis was really good, but I think Leroy Jordan played MLB.

He played weak side linebacker replacing Chuck Howley in 73.
