For all intents and purposes we should have lost that game. Don't understand why he slowed down the tempo in the 2nd quarter or on their last drive. The 3 runs on their last drive, particularly the calls leading up to the missed FG were stunning. Could not believe that series. In essence he abandoned the ONE thing that was working.

4 minutes left in the 1st qtr they score their 21st point. They don’t score again until 1 minute left in the 3rd qtr. what the hell happened? And the sequence up 35-30 was bizarre. He coaches scared.

Only drive I had issue with was after the strip sack up 35-30 with what like 8 minutes left?

Your DBs were chasing shadows all game, attack there and try to make it 42-30 and essentially put it out of reach.

Instead we run it 3 times, take 3, and hand it right back to a Georgia offense that had run ~75 plays already and had been driving basically the entire 2nd half with no answer from us defensively.

Because thats what hes always done. If the offense doesn't get a first down or a big gain they slow it down, once they they go in hyper speed, regardless of game context. He did that at UCF.

If he had just kept running the normal offense on the last drive, there are probably a lot more Vol fans on the board today.

Some people are just afraid of winning.

Why is Heupel turning into Fat Phil ?

Heupel's offense works by running the ball a lot and using short passes to bring up DB's so he can take big shots downfield. He's struggled in the past against UGA because UGA was able to stop the run without bringing guys up into the box, so the downfield shots were mostly covered.

UGA was struggling with the short passes and runs and had to bring the DB's up this year, which led to the down field plays. But on the last drive UGA didn't bring up the DB's... they were essentially playing a "prevent" style defense.

And Heupel runs his system. His system says that when your opponent drops DB's, you don't challenge them... you run the ball and throw short passes.

That's exactly what he did. It wasn't being scared or going conservative. It was what the system he developed said he should call. He's never going to call deep passes into a prevent defense unless he's down late and has no other option. Ever.

3 runs to kill clock and set up the FG. The penalty screwed up the timing and rhythm of the drive and that is why the FG was missed. Kick the FG, with 5 seconds for UGA to work with and it’s a wrap.

Terrible troll job, do better.

Heupel looks like he always has boogers falling out of his nose. I bet you can hear them hitting the conference room table in meetings.

We couldn't stop 17 even if we would've put 5 guys on him. Every time they ran the ball I breathed a sigh of relief.

Yep. I said to myself after the fumble recovery, Heupel is about to put a dagger in our heart and then the play calling left me grateful, but wondering, " Man, what the heck was he thinking?"

Y'all adjusted. Same thing happened when you played us last year

Using this logic then UGA should have won several of our losses against Bama. We had them beat but managed to lose. I don’t recall anyone saying we deserved to win those games. We didn’t finish. We didn’t do what it took to win. Tennessee lost and they deserved to lose. They didn’t finish

That's a good explanation for what we witnessed, but if I'm a Vol I'm asking, "Isn't that being dogmatic to a fault?"

He set up his team to win. It was an execution flaw, not a strategy flaw.

Take it up with Kirby. He's the one who said it.

So kicking was not the correct call? That was a head scratching decision for you.

Go collect your thoughts and figure out what you are trying to say.

Yes. Do better UTk. Stop blaming the kicker. It’s not his fault.
Your offense didn’t play well enough. Your coach not only iced this poor kid he kept running plays when he should have kicked resulting in a 5 yd penalty. And above all IF this kid is as lousy a kicker as so many of you are whining - and I don’t believe that for a minute- why was he recruited and put on the field at this - the most importation point in the game. The blame is on your coach and his decisions. Not this kicker.
It’s totally classless to blame him. But why should anyone be surprised. This is Tennessee we are talking about after all.
Nine in a row! And coming back for more next year
