The lack of a pass rush is extremely concerning to me.

I saw a stat that said Alabama has 5 sacks in it's last 5 games. I still believe Wommack's scheme is fundamentally flawed. The defensive line is undersized on the interior and although Overton projects well at the next level he's too slow and struggles to finish his pressures. Still waiting on any production out of the Wolf position as well.

Yes I noticed those stats. If you can't pressure the QB, more often than not in SEC play things aren't gonna end well.

I know this may sound crazy but I’d like to see how Steve Mboumoua would do out there in passing situations. I know he’s really raw but he is (IMO) hands down the quickest DL on the team. Or, put him in on short yardage issues because he can get penetration.

It seems all the lineman are looking to bull rush…I see no technique to their rush other than that.

Its something we will have to get better at or plan on trying to outscore everyone and get 2 or 3 stops a game.

I feel the same way. We don’t get good pressure with 4 and when they have opportunities they don’t finish. We were spoiled by Turner and Anderson in the last several seasons but I feel like it’s not just being spoiled by excellent edge rushers at this point.

This is why the MDB should play Les Miserables on 4th down again instead of that gay NSYNC shite (since we aren't producing sacks anymore).

Yep
This is the reason why I said we needed to move on from Ty Simpson after the FSU game if he can make the reads and throws fast enough.
Nothing personal against the guy. I was one of those betting on him.
However after ULM he has shown he could possibly get comfortable enough to process and throw faster. If he can't do prove that we need to move quickly to Mack or Keelon because without a QB who can process quickly, make accurate throws and keep defenses honest with a consistent deep threat??
We will end up 7-5 or 6-6

Here we go again.
Last year, you defended Radio regardless of how horribly he played or the back breaking mistakes me made. Now, you're going to do the opposite and diss Simpson regardless of how well he does.
Did Simpson play flawlessly vs FSU? Nope but he did way more good than bad in his first start in front of a hostile crowed and on national tv. Yes, ULM isn't a very good team but I don't know how he could have played any better than he did that game. I guess he should have thrown for 12 TDs in the first quarter?

Yes pass rush can definitely be better...but context is needed for this stat. The last 5 opponents were Oklahoma, Auburn, Michigan, FSU and ULM. How many passes did OU, Michigan and FSU even throw....not many to my recollection

Auburn was the only opponent to attempt more than 15 attempts in the last 5 games. Going 2-3 against teams that are one dimensional (and not even good!) is pretty depressing.

No doubt

I think the only natural edge rusher we have on the roster that isn't a freshman is Pierre and he really hasn't looked great either. Russaw should be playing where Lawson is playing. Pursuit in space is his biggest strength
Justin Hill could eventually be that guy but he is super timid in the run game right now. I'd like to see what he can do on 3rd and 9 early in the game when the job is just "go get the quarterback"
Wommack is going to have to get more creative on his blitz packages though. We've got to start generating pressure. I'd like to see more coming from the nickel and safety spots

I don't care how many sacks we get, but we absolutely need to do a better job at pressuring the opposing QB because we aren't impacting other teams offense over the last half season.
In fact its been just the opposite, too often we have been allowing them to impact us.

Wommack and Roach need to go. We need new blood there.

We struggled with a pass rush the last few years of Saban's regime as well. The dominant interior defensive linemen have become harder and harder to find, and I think it didn't help that we didn't have the staff to develop them that Saban once had.
Now, we still don't have that quick twitch DL, but the good thing is I did see a few players Saturday night who came in that had some quick twitch to them, and it was noticeable. Hopefully, they can work their way up to some more playing time because we definitely need some explosiveness on the DL.

Steve Mboumoua. Very, very raw but I liked what I saw. Freakishly quick.
