His only saving grace is Nate Oats. Take away that and he’d be on the hot seat here soon for investing so much into DeBoer.

The hire was an ok decision, not sure who else you would have hired outside Sark, but no one in their right mind gives that kind of buyout for the coach replacing the greatest coach of all time. Odds were always that he wouldn’t work out, so the buyout should have been much closer to zero.
Byrne deserves to be fired for putting the university in a position where they can’t offload this clown for the next 5 years.

Byrne has done a pretty good job as AD. He didn’t hire DeBoer without input and approval from the president, the BoT, and the deep pockets. Let’s run them all off while we’re at it. Blaming Byrne solely is pretty silly.

Keep in mind that Byrne schedule two major OOC games for some stupid reason knowing full well that Saban wouldn’t likely be around to coach in them. Now that we see the OOC games don’t have an impact relative to getting the benefit of the doubt for the playoff, we have to weasel out of them.
