I know it’s days off until we find out…but has anybody heard what might be the driving factor determining the results?

It's money and nothing else.

I'm assuming that since they have been looking at the 9 game schedule for going on 5 years now, they have already agreed on the permanent opponents and simply haven't announced them yet. If they haven't already agreed on the opponents prior to agreeing to the 9 game schedule, then they are some incompetent idiots.

This answer isn't wrong, but rivalries, competitive balance, and geographic proximity are related towards fan interest and thus money draw.
I don't think the league office working with Disney to come up with a profitable slate of games is bad. Not everything will be be perfect, but I think the final plan will be palatable.

One factor is Bama telling the SEC they wont accept LSU since they are getting Tenn and Auburn,

Don’t be surprised when Miss State gets Ole Miss, Bama, and Auburn

LSU is scared to play Alabama.

In fairness, that would be 3 of the traditional strongest SEC teams.

Wish they could have worked out a pod solution.
Bama, AU, UTk, Vandy
UGA, USCe, UF, UK (unfortunate effect to DSOR)
LSU, State, Ole Miss, Arky
AGGIE, UTx, OU, Mizzou
Could plug and play a bit with the above, but with no perfect solution, I feel it is still the best option to go pods.

If they do have a 100% rule that you cant play 3 upper team games we might get a few funny looking ones. It was rumored last time the SEC was going to give us OK instead of a TN or LSU because it made it easier to work things out and keep the must have rival games.

$, tv and traditional rivalries. MSU has played Bama a lot over the years but I don’t know anyone that wants to watch that game every year.

Why Auburn?
Miss state and Auburn have played almost 100 times and are very close geographically.

I think they are trying to maximize the number of rivalry games.. but one school in particular creates a big problem in solving that puzzle.
Someone has to play Missouri. Oklahoma is a given. They will be one of the 3.The next 2 won't have many games against them, regardless of who you choose..
Should Texas give up Arkansas so that A&M can play Arkansas?
That isn't my decision to make, but I believe Arkansas would rather play Texas.
There isn't any reason for Vanderbilt to give up Tennessee, Kentucky or Ole Miss in order to play Missouri.
That leaves 2 of Arkansas, A&M & South Carolina as all are about equal.
Georgia & Florida & Kentucky all want to play South Carolina.
That leaves A&M & Arkansas.
This is what I came up with today. The Aggies won't like it, but look at all of those games played above them.. Who are you taking off the board in order to play LSU or Arkansas? Again, someone has to play Missouri. I get that you don't like it.. well then, maybe you shouldn't have moved to the SEC with them.

Slive said they are going to roll the rivals and schedules out over time to create a buzz. It’s so stupid, just tell us!

You're right...DEFINITELY a NO GO!

With more expansion being discussed, the 3 perm/9 conf. games won't work.

If the have 3 upper team games, there has to be 3 lower team games.
